Oh wow, a definite beauty you nabbed there, Rei! Love the dark metallic blue on the red vinyl. One of my favourites of the original lineup for sure (and yet missing from my own shelf!). His chunky, ripply body, with all those creases and battle scars, really captures the fun side of kaiju and shows you how much work went into getting the detail of these toys right. Something about his odd, pointy-billed mouth has always appealed to me too; part of the fun way these Tsubu guys defy any classification system other than 'kaiju.' A very nice addition indeed to anyone's collection, and I hope it is just the start of a full vintage Bullmark family for you.
Thank you fellas! I'm really happy to have him. Steve, eloquent as ever, your description sure makes me not want to leave the house and keep staring at him! I'll be tossing my line into the vintage waters a little more for sure...
You are right weapons and accessories is the first thing that is lost as time passes and even more in these figures that are at least about 30 years old.
@Alebrije i was so mad came in a small brown bag all the way from Japan luckily no damage but that could've been bad
Fortunately it arrived well and safe, in my little experience when they send something of Japan they go to the extremes; Sometimes just put it in a simple box of another product with only one paper inside or send it with all possible protection. I imagine that it has to be a generalized feeling, that you do not feel very well at all until the box is in your door.
Two very wonderful figures, Johnny. Marusan OG is just such a great figure, I have always loved this guy's expression, and his single horn really such a quirky little touch of character. Excellently accented by that metallic purple too, a colour you don't often get to see in vintage toys. And wow, that Lion Maru! He looks brand new, I am so amazed. Fantabulous glossy vinyl body, wonderful paint, and as pointed out so great to see with accessories (cape + sword) present and in decent shape. Pretty jealous as I need to welcome him into my fold of heroes still too. Great work on the vintage hunting.
Congrats on the Lion Maru! I was watching that. Glad to see a brainer won out! It's a great specimen.
@ultrakaiju thanks man I stopped collecting vintage for like two years but I'm back and kinda going crazy on em lol I've always wanted a lion Mary this one is my first I'm on the hunt for Bullmark removable mask with hair Version
@Johnny Black hey man great find on both, I love that marusan original the purple and orange must really pop in person....love those rough sculpts from that vintage marusan series. The Lion Maru loooks amazing!!!!! what more to say!!!!! congrants again...
@Johnny Black - I have to agree, you have been killing it with all the vintage scores lately. I am still in awe of that giant kaiju. What an incredible specimen. I really need to bag one of those behemoths some day.
Great shot. Big fan of Daigoro. Ive been meaning to find one for years. If anyone hasnt seen the movie Daigoro vs Goliath give it a shot, its completely absurd.
Thanks! I just had about 4 heart attacks looking at your flickr feed! Today's mail brought tiny treasures
That it´s a good one, still in my want list. Congratulations on this beautiful specimen besides painting is in very good condition, the colors are very vivid and I do not know if the photo has some filters or retouching. I imagine that it was not easy to catch him with the tower...
