Welcome to the board Arturo. Is there a particular focus to your toy collection, and what brought you in to SB? You know, you're actually in luck, well sort of. There is (or used to be) quite a big scene of very good SB folks down Chicago way. Check it out here if you like. I mean, an hour is a fair chop, but for a SB get-together, or heading out to come nice events (G-Fest!!!) I'd say it is worth the occasional long commute. Some of us would indeed welcome the proximity. Anyways, just throwing it out there in case you didn't know. Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome. Collection focus? MVH of course. Also works by tkom, shirahamatoy and guumon. And gamarah's. One of my favorite recent sculpts. I also really like what redhotstyle has been doing. I don't remember what drew me in to SB but I love just reading through all the comments regarding toys. Some funny shit. And I wasn't aware of the Chicago toy scene. I'm usually out of the loop tho. I'll check out that section. Thanks.

Hi I'm from South Louisiana. I was drawn to Super 7 when the Alien Reaction figures first hit. I preordered the Alien Egg Chamber Playset and followed Reaction over to Funko. I got all of the Super 7 Masters of the Universe Reaction figures and was very impressed with the quality! I am glad to see Reaction back at Super 7. I'm very much excited about the remaining Nostromo crew for Alien, The Planet of the Apes figure, Iron Maiden's Eddie, etc! I've always been a big Star Trek fan so I wouldn't mind seeing Super 7 redo what Funko did and maybe get us a more in depth line from all the different shows. I would also love to see a few other properties from my childhood like V, Battle Star Galactica, Battle Beyond the Stars, Buck Rogers, Lost in Space, Dark Shadows, Land of the Lost, etc in Reaction.

Welcome to the forum, and hap tip to you, sir, on the handle. Some classic BSG in the ReAction line would be pretty cool, but I doubt they could improve much on the classic Mattel series, and I think the intent is to focus on some unproduced stuff. Similarly with a few other licenses you mentioned there, though some Star Trek figures from the original series would be nice, since generally the movie ones were so limited. But definitely, I am sure you are among a good number of fans of the line that would love to relive their childhood joy see more characters covered.

Are you also collecting kaiju/sofubi? There is a bit of discussion here for action figures, ReAction, and the occasional 'misc' toy, but you might have to dig around a bit. Enjoy the exploration!

    Hello
New member from UK & France here. As my avatar name may suggest, I came accross sofubis via one of my other niche interest, ie Japanese robots, which led to discovering Super 7 via the Super Shoguns series, and getting exposed me to their vinyls, while also discovering the Marmit brand after I found a vinyl Grendizer from their Legend of Fierce Robots series. I have a small collection, mostly what I can find in the UK, where I am based, including some vintage kaijus, some more recent, and a few modern vinyls. I have to admit to owning two Funko Pop figures as well (the ony General Klaytus I have seen).

Welcome! Great to hear a story like that, spreading and growing the love for Japanese robots and toys. And as a fellow fan of Go Nagai and giant robots, you'll find some of that love here too. Looks (and sounds) like you are off to a great start already, that is a really nice MG sneaking in in your image. Hope you enjoy Skullbrain (and its many crazies)!

You will have to tell me the secret places you found stuff like that here in the UK.
There is nothing like that for sale around my neck of the woods . . .

    Welcome to the board mate.

^ Ha, yeah, I was sort of wondering about that myself. I did put out feelers for a recent trip to London, but came up empty. But honestly, outside of Japan, you seem hard pressed to find any sorts of kaiju/Japanese toys, except for the well-known exceptions, and increasingly rare random treasures you might find at an antique or collectables shop (I am looking at you, Rei! ).

Not really a secret, but quite some time hunting on ebay. Postage and exchange rates (thanks to Brexit!) make it prohibitve buying from abroad but from within the UK, you can get good bargains. Probably works best if you are into the older stuff than into the more modern stuff (it seems the MOTU vinyls from Super 7 are unknown here!) Nevertheless I agree sofubis are rather niche here, unlike those damn Pop! figures.
Makes me think thta the only time I saw sofubis in London, that was at the Orbital comic shop, in their old toys cabinet. There was a MechaGodzilla and a Godzilla at a fairly decent price.

HI! I'm Ashley! I hail from the dirty south; Columbia, Sc to be exact. I am a leather worker by trade and I just recently got into collecting/admiring the past few months! One of my favorite people introduced me and I have been spending all of my money ever since. I am still a super n00b but I love Grody Shogun's stuff so much! Even though I mostly collect taxidermy, bones, victorian mourning art, wet specimens as well as human specimens, I find myself drawn to very bright and colorful toys which stands out from my spooky museum house! I am not very good at introductions sooo yeah...Okay thanks!

Wet specimens? Is that what two-headed frogs in a jar are called? Love the term!

Welcome, Ashley. Much of the soft vinyl hobby has gone the route of full-on grotesquerie these past few years, so it's especially heartening to hear that someone of your background was drawn into our fold by the cheerful and fun toys that exist outside of the general obsession with rot and decay!

Looking forward to seeing some snaps of your growing army of softies, and very much hoping that you treat us to a visual tour of the Spooky Museum, too.

Never be afraid to ask a question around here, we're happy to have you!

Hey everyone! My name is Rich and I'm very new to the hobby. Pretty much an instagram warrior at the moment and always love finding new artists and creators of toys. I'm living in Florida and really have nobody to talk/learn from when it comes to this kind of thing and look forward to meeting some people who share a similar interest. I look forward to meeting you all!

Welcome @GutterKnight. There is actually a really strong FL contingent on the board, and in times past, they were some of the nice crew who got together on a more regular basis; stay tuned, you might get in with some very excellent peeps there. Is there anything particular you collect/have interest in thus far?

That's awesome to hear! I'll definitely have to keep my eyes peeled. Right now I really don't have that broad of a collection but I'm really fond of Draculazer's designs with Gums. I also really like Goccodo, RealxHead, Shirahama, and Medicom designs too. Really looking forward to Skelton's Head Lopper toy coming out as well.
