All those people are just posting for the likes. The instant gratification of getting notifications. If I had a dollar for every Kaws repost I have seen... I agree with @liquidsky "happened before will happened again"

I am still lost, but absolutely any BS&T reference will get a like from me, so this gets a complete pass.

As for IG accounts in lotto forms, its a pretty status quo question these days i feel. rich and PK do it and they do reward smooching imo but not because someone posts about their lotto. But i think mainly its just a way to track toys & flippers better. A random name is a name but a handle is more traceable? If u win a coveted toy and then post a FS or Trade on one ur accounts? Or dont post anything at all, maybe that points to ur intentions? I dunno, thats my 2 cents, something to think about.

Ive had my username for quite a long time. Its never helped anything much.

so these requests for 'likes' seem more to be just another dictum of bureaucracy. So thats what it is.

I find it funny that people would hide numbers of HS toys when putting them to the aftermarket (for more, of course), to protect their 'identity' (presumably to keep being unblacklisted for future lotteries) but then sell one-offs. [shrug]

Wait, so the HxS Brutal ace is just a resculpt of this?

Which designs are HxS original? I know the monkey is not, also the others?

I feel like I should know this but now I'm doubting myself.

I think the original Mecha Gorilla was also based on a character from a Japanese video game, but I can't remember the name of the game.

The Mr. X set and the Omakes were based on the original Stretch Armstrong and the US and Japanese Stretch Monsters respectively.

The original monkey was a take on his Dad's vintage toy I believe- so it sort of falls into an 'original' HxS design.

That's the legend but was this ever verified? Seems like every toy by hxs was a homage to something. It was hyped through CKA initially and I'm actually genuenely curious. Does anyone really know?? If he built a company based on vintage toys and made a ton of money it's actually quite brilliant.

I'd have to do some digging to find the exact post again, but it comes straight from Hirota himself, who shared that his father was the one that sculpted the original pachi version of the 'Kong.' He mentioned that part of it was inspiration for him, as well as fulfilling a dream because even though his father has made the toy, he himself never owned one. It was only after Hirota-san revealed this connection that the prices on the vintage pachi versions went through the roof (sigh, of course). The original, for those that don't know, was a much smaller size, and done in thinner vinyl I believe (though I have never held one in person to confirm). You can see a comparison of the two in this image that Anthony had posted:

I think it is Japan culture to take an existing concept and improve it.

I guess that is why this one exists.

but obviously the proportions of Hirota's work has so much more character.

If this 'taking' of things and improving then the mordenisms of Takeuchi are alive and well in 2017 Japanese aesthetics.

This drives me batshit crazy. Not just the HxS stuff...any toy purchased and flipped. Old topic I know, but it's such a bum out. Like when a release is dropped, someone buys it and says, "up for trade/sale, I don't like the color"... you knew what it was when you bought it. There are lottos i don't enter specifically because I don't like the sculpt/color of the release. Like most of us believe, it's better to get it in someone's hands who really would enjoy the release....again, old as fuck topic, but annoying all the same.

I've seen HxS releases have identifying marks independent of the number. For instance, me and someone else on here both have the Blue King, my heads are switched(it came that way) and a tooth is blacked out. My friends has the heads on as normal and a different tooth is blacked out. There are cool suttle differences like that with some of the releases. We think it's not just an aesthetic, but an actual identity marker for who got the toy.

My two king jus between them have three different head sculpts. It's neat, it's also impossible to hope for a matching set.
