I am there in more than spirit fellas. [Not to mention a shit ton of toys besides.] Would really be nice to know who, if anyone, if still around though and checking in here. Sure ain't what it used to be, alas. And while I am here, might I just add RIP Alan Thicke. I am really getting tired of reading obituaries; 2016 can fuck right the hell off already. If people only know his work from Growing Pains, there were missing out. I highly recommend jPod, for his performance (and a great many other reasons), In everything I have seen and read of the man, he seemed like a truly genuine, funny, cool, and down-to-earth gentleman. Sadly, a great man of entertainment and honest Canadian, taken too soon. Canadian actor Alan Thicke dead at 69
Is it bad that I'm enjoying that song? Alan Thicke was one of my all time favorite tv dads. No, I'm not talking about Growing Pains, but rather the coming of age cyborg love story, the "Not Quite Human" trilogy. The time was the 80s, the channel was Disney, and the material were made for tv movies. Alan Thicke played the heartbroken genius scientist and supportive loving father of his lovestruck sentient android son, who just happened to be Not Quite Human (WHHuuuuUUUHH?!?!). The original, and maybe the 2nd, are classics in the minds of all adults who watched them as children.
I'm checking in, though I have to say I'm wondering why more and more... Haven't bought a sb-appropriate toy in forever. I think the 30% drop in our currency marked the beginning of the end for me.
I'm hoping it'll go back up Also if you sell in USD through PayPal you won't even notice the difference
Meaning their fees have gotten higher? I should definitely sell a bunch of things. But time, o time! Where hast thou gone.
If you're buying and selling in the same currency it doesn't matter right? As long as you add that 4% to pay for their transaction fees
Finally!! At long last one of the highly unfortunate residuals of Jean Drapeau's* time as mayor has been overturned. Sad to think this took sixty years; but then, that is Montreal bureaucracy for ya. Guess I am old fashioned, but the thought of actually enjoying old pinball and arcade games is still something that really appeals to me. * not meant as a slight at all on the man, he gave a lot to this city and his legacy is evident all over Decades of prohibition over; it's legal to play pinball in a Montreal bar again
Well, it's a big one folks. Wishing a very happy Canada Day to my fellow Canucks, and all of the de facto Canadians, Canadians by association, border hoppers, across the fence neighbours, and just generally, anyone who wants to have a good time. Happy sesquicentennary folks!! Hope it is a blast for one and all. Embrace all the good things our country has given the world.
Is anyone attending Fantasia Film Festival http://www.fantasiafestival.com/home/en/ Steve would, if he could.
You're darn tootin' I would! One of the biggest things I miss about Montreal, and - even with all the amazing festivals on throughout the city - a fixture of summer for me. It looks like a wonderful lineup this year, just like always. I am particualrly intrigued/excited by the spotlight on Turkish cinema, featuring a showing of The Man Who Saved the World ["Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam"], which I am sure some of you might know, or at least seen my mention of it here, including a special presentation of a Lifetime Acheivement award to its star, Cüneyt Arkin, a pop-culture/screen phenomena in Turkey in his own right. Pretty wonderful stuff. I look forward to reports if anyone attends some films this year.
Um, don't make this into a ModWar where I have to redact all of your posts, David. (subtle, because we're Canadian, eh)
Come now David, I am disappoint. The obvious match-up (and winner) is with this fellow. For the uninitiated: Spoiler: Runner up Non-joking reference:
I was always a Puck man meself, but the question, monsieur, was about Canadian Man and the good Captain. Guardians need not apply.
Happy Canada Day, all you hosers. Missing you one and all. Please imbibe appropriately in all the good things Canadian, in my honour. I have your soundtrack all picked out, (not that there is any lack of amazing Cancon to fill the day otherwise)
Going to MTL end of this month for my birthday, first time! Have a couple of spots on my list but if any SBer's have toy store recs or want to grab a pint, let me know!
It's that merry time of the summer again. Hopefully you haven't all been baking in the heatwave in BC (now into Alberta), but in any, wishing all the Canucks and home and abroad a very Happy Canada Day!!
