You'd still have to purchase the ashes for $550 AUD

It really doesn't even look like Shigeru's work. But at least it breathes some new life into this thread!

Maybe something got lost in translation and you actually get $550 AUD if you win & destroy it..?

It's funny seeing Americans blow a fuse when having to deal with another currency... Welcome to our world! Btw the conversion rate is pretty sweet so it works out to be a nice price in USD. Not that it matters with the Aussie only purchase stipulation.. saves me having to answer "is that USD or AUD" about a hundred times. Instead I get to answer "I want to buy it/sell it to me" with "fuck off" about fifty times so far..

    Interesting concept.

It would be kind of cool if the painter did the damage on their own in different fun ways and took photos of the progress. Imagine a beautifully painted toy and a video of it being tossed all by itself in a dryer on tumble low! Maybe taking it to the beach and digging a hole a few feet down in the sand then digging it up a few days later. Covering it with wet sugar and leaving it on an ant hill for a couple days. Covering it with bird seed and letting crows peck it like a Hitchcock film. Then selling it once the artist was done messing it up. That would be fun.

The idea of a collector damning the toy themselves seems to go against the natural order of things.

The whole damaging the toy thing isn't mandatory of course, but the way Shig explained it is the toy will rust and discolour over time - the copper will become distressed similar to the texture you see in Pushead illustrations. There is also paint underneath the copper layer, so Shig wants it to be picked at, bumped, etc to reveal some of that eventually... pretty interesting piece for sure

That's actually a really cool concept! I'd imagine the copper will oxidate over time and have that great mint green color along with it.

Thanks for the explanation Glenn.. More info on particular things is always appreciated.

I wonder what's the USD to SAD conversion rate these days.

The zombie Nags are cool (the one with all the teeth). Not really a fan of the others...

i love the new nags, but im more interested in the shig painted medicom zannin’s. could be more so the fact that its a devilman toy but im sure the excessive paint detailing is part of it too ;)

It's hands down dumb. It has nothing to do with the regions of Earth. It's just stupid.

I also love how everyone has a popup shop now and that everyone makes their own toy. There is a ton of cash circulating. I learned the absolute hard way about wasting money. Lesson learned.
Sell a shelf of things that sit there and costs you thousands, to pay for school, tuition, food etc and then you realize and have that wtf moment. I'm content with my half shelf of things that make me smile.

I don’t think people making more toys is inherently bad, depending on their creative output, influence, intent and originality. I think it’s pretty obvious who’s in it for the monies/hype/attention, and who just wants to make cool shit in a format they genuinely appreciate. I will agree too many people are putting on shows now, and a couple recent ones are being put on by people that are sketchy newjacks. So I can’t help but feel like they’re dirty, being put on so they have easy access to pieces, and even more unnecessary, sans places on the globe that have never had one, ever.

Wasting monies is pretty subjective. ‘Cause while I think Nags are a complete waste of attention and monies, I’ve had PLENTY say the same thing to me about my fighters, Obake Dogs and Cinema Monsters. I’d rather take a one off Cinema Monster I don’t own over an old retail priced Nag at $250 any day of the week. That’s had people roll their eyes to me in my face.

Luckily, I’m in a position where all of my responsibilities are taken care of month to month, so any expenses I expel on toys is literally a hobby, and one I can afford. That being said, despite my appreciation for Shig’s hustle and paint style, I fuckin’ hate these things, and will never understand why people want them so badly, other than to say “I have one.”

I liked that the Nyag had color changing hair. The hairdryer vid was fun.

Yeah... or some easy trade-bait. I have yet to even see if any piece I have ever sent there has remained on the continent for more than a month.

Oh, Jesus, that’s embarrassing for them. Such a shame, too, ‘cause they put in so much of that leg work, and the artists do even more so! It seems like some artists won’t even submit to certain shows because of these shady ass practices. It’s overall good that these dweebs weed themselves out, but it still sucks that it even happens continuously.

Where are you talking about exactly? AUS? I know at least three guys that have kept the pieces of yours that they bought from somebody else's show here.. Xenoplasm I think? Now that I think about it there's a handful.. to be honest if you're talking shit about the Australian shows then that's kind of a dick move.. they sold pieces for you and helped you get exposure down here right? Anyway - you have to admit that with the level of hype your toys are at combined with the flood of new naive collectors being hounded by hypebeasts with $$$ to throw around - it's bound to happen.

Wow...give some people an inch, they will take a mile! Where did I mention SHOWS? Or the people who put on SHOWS? Did I say that?

I know quite a few good collectors in Australia thanks.
