I'm waaayyyy behind on all shizz Star Wars but I just started watching Clone Wars animated and wanted to hate f*** it to death but I love it and don't want it to end.
Of course because I'm years late anything related to it is now worth US$40 each when I could have gotten 100 battle droids from the CHinese factory floor ten years ago.

Wow that's actually amazing - a great piece of bootleg ceramic (?). Are those jewels in the eyes?

I don't remember! I didn't buy it, but I loved it. I think it's some kind of translucent acetate/paper in the eyes. It seemed to be an internally lit thing.

I like how Betty Boop has that Queen Amidala thing going on.

I have several of these. They were part of an - as far as I am aware - unlicensed ceramic run from the '70s/'80s. They are bootlegs in that sense, but not rare at all, as I suspect that these were sold as a type of home ceramic kit (you will notice they tend to have many different paint versions, as numerous as the people applying them), and, I think given the numbers I have seen, were likely distributed through a/major chain(s) and catalogues (e.g. Sears). There is an R2-D2 that is also very common. Both can be modified to be lights, via an internal bulb placed though a round opening at the base, but very often, the Artoo especially, they will have been coin banks, and this same opening is the 'plug' to pull out those precious child savings to lay down for more Star Wars toys!! :) As far as the 'accessory' parts, the eyes can again be a variety of different things, generally whatever they might have had on hand that would work, generally just coloured plastic discs of some sort; these are also often missing, or never applied in the first place on Vader, and the same for his lightsaber.

They used to be very affordable (but I am not as up on the SW collectors' scene these days), as - incredibly! - they don't seem to be all that desired. Personally, I adore them. The derpy bootleg look is everything I love, and all the little aspects of these are just so of their time (if that makes sense). Thank you so much for sharing this pic Rei. You've made my day with that little trip down an area of SW I love very much, and have great nostalgia for.

Maybe someone could re-release them as growlers. "Luke, I am your lager."

Is it bad that the use of differing condensed fonts on the SW posters irks me more than the actual plagiarism!

@Anti Social Andy bugs me too! There were 101 different ways to achieve this effect and its a shame they literally used the same color schemes + layouts.

^ Hey, man, I didn't say it! Comedy is slim-pickens around here and I had to pluck it where I found it.

So Devin Faraci is back. Who knew?

Solo was fucking awesome - pretty much an Indiana Jones sequel in space! However, I don't get why everybody is so ga-ga over Donald Glover's Lando performance.. kind of took me out of the movie (in the same way Laura Dern took me out of TLJ, but that film was a shit-show from start to finish anyway). He did get the weird american/british hybrid accent right at times.. other times he just sounded like Donald Glover. Will definitely see it again in the cinema.

Also, here's some Star Wars character heads I drew from memory for an art show earlier this month - gotta break out the $2 K-Mart markers more often...

All I care about is that Darth Maul cameo he appeared in on Solo. Probably the only reason ill even go to see the movie. Wasn't planning on it till after hearing that. He was the only good thing that came outta episode 1 anyways.

You must be pretty bad at things like surprise parties and keeping secrets @Headhunter .. might want to use the spoiler tag for some of that post (even though, yes, if you're a REAL Star Wars fan you would have seen it by now.. but still)

Anybody noticed how a lot of comments on facebook/instagram etc are people feeling the need to ask "should I like this" "but is it any good?" - can't people trust their own taste these days?

Is it a matter of people second-guessing their judgement because The Last Jedi was so extremely polarizing?

I saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unlike The Thing prequel from a few years back, it was constrained about having to show everything we knew we would see, but somehow pulled it off. Great visuals, Donald Glover was perfect as Lando, and frankly I found it really fun (including a few references to things out of some obscure Star Wars stuff from the past), but in the end I think it is the first 'disposable' Star Wars movie. I liked it, I might see it again, but like a cheap snack, it's kind of forgettable. I give it a solid 7 out of 10.

Yep, just watched Solo and i liked it as well. Nothing earth shattering but its well cast and has many fun moments. I liked the guy who plays Han, I thought he did a good job.
