Ok, I was trying very VERY hard not to do this. However, if someone is going to insinuate I am a liar (esp. after lying to me countless times across a three year period and incessantly dicking me around throughout that period, as well as just consistently being a complete waste of time) , well then I guess I have no choice. Attention N00Bz: This man is the absolute worst person I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I would recommend NEVER, under any circumstances, doing business with him. I am not gonna go back and forth on this anymore. I can only hope to save someone the frustration of dealing with this man, as I wish someone had done to me.
My experiences have been vastly different than those voiced above, all of them pleasant. John always struck me as the most genuine of enthusiasts and he's been nothing but generous in my direction, I'm sorry, Patrick, to hear that you've been this unhappy in your dealings with him.
Thanks David, he keeps calling me names and threatening me via PM. He edits them so I can’t save them. He says he’s gonna tell everyone how I pestered you to give me the money you accidentally shorted me. I’m honestly speechless rn.
Patrick I never said you were a liar, and only said what I did to show you did get things from me that you paid for. I also refunded you when other items sold out, I have proof of that. You have not even acknowledged the refund you received yesterday for Kurmudgeon. I sent it as "gift" so you got back 100℅ of that payment. I owe you ($75.00) for the other preorder you backed out of so quit acting like I owe you more. Saying what you did is really over the top. To be clear to anyone else wondering, neither Kurmudgeon nor the clear blue Kusogon are cancelled. A few folks stepped up to try to get things resolved and get those dolls made. Moderators are free to look at all my PMs any time. I never threatened, nor did I call you names ever.
You don’t even know what you said anymore, do you? It must be difficult keeping up with all those lies. There are other things I purchased and never received. Which had nothing to do with vinyl you were waiting on. Cool, you sent part of a refund after 3 fucking years as “gift”. It shoulda had interest. I will always know now who and what you are. Also, ewww no one wants to hear about your PMS.
Remember kids, this was a pre-order from the other side of the globe involving hand-pulled vinyl dollies. Kichigai John is dealing not only with refunding monies forwarded long ago to the Agent, but the catastrophic failure of said Agent to fulfill the order... or generally give any update or recourse whatsoever. Ever thought about how much that would suck if it was your creation? Bottom line: Life happens, John is a stand-up guy, and all will be made right in end. The rest is unfortunate and really unnecessary.
It’s unfortunate, and admittedly shocking, that you’ve had such a negative experience! My personal dealings and conversations with John have been nothing short of legitimate, helpful, and seamless. Not only have I repeatedly experienced the aforementioned, but John has gone out of his way on several occasions to extend a helping hand on a couple releases for me that would have otherwise been unobtainable. As far as getting shit in hand, that’s pretty out of his control once it’s in the hands of artists and factories. As far as the refunds, it might take John some time to get the monies back, because it had already been given to the source for financing. And John has to get that back to people out of pocket, perhaps? That’s my personal speculation, of course. I will say, from where I’m standing, it is a bit strange to see such frustration and borderline out rage over waiting on a release. If it were someone like Hirota or another big time name, no one would be hitting him up like this, passive aggressive or otherwise. John’s one dude, doing his best with connections from across the world. Edit: I’d also like to point out that I’m not negating or denying Patrick’s experience, just that, like David, mine has been the polar opposite.
How can that sound right when it's impossible to edit PMs after 4 minutes have passed? Threats and name calling? I'd need to see some proof otherwise I'd call this slander. This is getting ridiculous. Thanks for chiming in, @meanmistert and @xSuicide Squadx.
It definitely happened. We were quickly going back and forth. I saw everyone of his initial messages. This is so not fair.
Can we please keep this flame situation out of the thread? @patrickvaz, @kichigai, @bryce_r and whomever else, please feel free to PM about whatever is bothering you and I'll do my best to help find some resolution.
I think it's important to remember that we're all (for the most part) humans here. Hey, I totally get being amped about something/a toy, and wanting it yesterday - we've all been there. But it's very easy to lose sight of the fact that so many of these things, and I am referring specifically to niche Japanese vinyl toy production, are one-man operations. There are by and large run purely by passionate, skilled people, with little regard to making any money, getting compensated for all of the stress, efforts, and years of development and patience it takes. Really, they do this (as a generalisation) solely as artistic people, and those who want to share the fun and appreciation of these toys (and the craft behind it) with other folks of like mind [US]. Add to that that for most people, this is a hobby run purely in the off-time, and so is subject to other commitments, as we all have to deal with. There are hiccups, some unavoidable, other unintentional, as well as major setbacks (e.g. lost molds). I am not going to come here to try and place blame on anyone, but it is important to try and remember the logistics involved. I haven't been involved directly or otherwise in any of this particular production, but I don't think we need to take it to a personal level. John has clearly been very vocal with having had to face some major difficulty, and I think, any business aside, that at least warrants some understanding, if not sympathies. I'd to see this put aside before it gets any further out of hand - we can all get emotional, and that is understandable - I hope we can resolve this once cooler heads return. Please try to keep it civil, and if it really isn't conducive to positive discourse, keep it to PM (or better, yourselves). signed - the arbitration
This is likely the last Kusogon update from me until next year....... Thank you to everyone who trusted me to refund the Septic Clear Blue Kusogon that never got made. Several of these fans opted for HP Kusogon in place of the deposit. I had a lot of fun painting these final Kusogon. This was my favorite: SEPTIC BACKWASH KUSOGON HP by beaK aka "The Larry" (Enjoy it Lawrence!) Steampunk Kusogon sculpted by Hasada-san will be out next year, FYI the folks who will be painting runs of it are Sofvi legends! I have a health issue to address and will be taking some time off to recover so thank you everyone on here that ever enjoyed and understood Kusogon! PMA & Arigato- beaK
There’s some exciting news! I look forward to what’s to come for Steamy Kusogon and the revealing of the painters as the journey goes Though truthfully I’m most pleased to hear that you’re going to take time for your much needed surgeries. I know it will be scary, but it could become much srarier and reach a point of no return if you don’t do it. Proud of you for taking the handles, beaK.
Finally sharing pics of the gorgeous HP I received last month! Thank you John!!! Its a great blend of different paint textures used in a subtle way, and i'm really into the spots that look washed out.
