Mighty is the one that Gargamel based Beralgon, correct? Which is the kaiju that they based Tetran on? (Or do I have that mixed up?)

Nah, Gargamel has their literal mini translation of the Mighty. The Beralgon is the “Wrinkle” Space Kaiju, if I remember correctly.

Edit: Daniel with the info kill! Thank you for droppin’ so much knowledge in here! This is great!!!

Thanks for setting me straight. Now how many of these creatures were in the Seikaino No Kaiju books?

It's a really great size @xSuicide Squadx - from the looks of that photo (and maybe for most vintage vinyl) the pour was quite thin. Thankfully the Hukko versions have had nice thick walls of vinyl to support it's chubby-ness ;)

@badteethcomics The only considerably vintage toys I own are my Fink Shits. The vinyl on those two is pretty damn thin, but still a nice weight and feel. Come to think of it, my red Kougai is pretty thin as well. And extremely light, considering how damn bulky those are.

I really wonder why or what reason the other YONEZAWA Dinosaur never got remade.

    * Not my photo, sorry could not find credit

It was featured on the insert sticker/mini poster in the Medicom "Phantom Gift Set" and the header card from what I recall.

Fingers crossed it may still see new life!

@kichigai My suspicion would be perceived lack of interest. At the time the Hukko repros were in production, you could find the 5th Yonezawa figure pretty easily for ~10,000 yen. Given that the Hukkos were selling for around that price, I think it would have been hard for them to find sales for a reproduction.

Space Kaiju No. 2 ('Tetran'). This is a paint sample that appears to use the flesh blanks of these sculpts (which were publicly sold).

There is a matching No. 1 ('Beralgon') as well.

Ohhh myyyy!!! That is just superb, Daniel. So much better even than the initial photos showed. I just love the colours on this one, so different, and the wonderful colours - especially that sort of flat light blue - gives it a perfect pachi feel. I could exactly see such a scheme be used for random paints in the vintage bootleg glory days. I am really impressed. So happy that were able to adopt this lovely space fella.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Thank you for getting photos of this up! I was eagerly awaiting! So happy this went to a fellow SB’er! Admittedly, I didn’t fully appreciate this sculpt, still having not held one, until Lixx posted up his army. I can’t think of another kaiju with even a similar texture, and it’s so architectural. These sprays lend themselves so well to the fleshy pink base, and your photo does it much greater justice than the stock photo on Manda.

Thanks for the comments. Actually, as I look at the paint scheme, doesn't it remind you of the Bullmark Earthtron? Nothing specific, but it shares a lot of the colors used on the more common versions.

Perusing Hukko on Mandarake and I came across this particular Keratosaurus. I used to obsess over the grey base/green spray version I’ve seen, but this one just ever so slightly took its place. One of my favorite things about learning of Hukkokudo and the repros, is, the myriad of painted versions there are, in comparison to their vintage predecessors. I hope to someday come into ownership of this orange and blue!

Mandarake tagged that Cerato as a 'paint sample', and the header has the word 'custom' written on it, so unfortunately, there may only be one or a few of them out there.

@akum6n Ah, damn. Thank you for that tidbit, Daniel! I'll be keepin' that in mind now. There's still some really nice versions I'd like to come into over time, so it won't kill me. But I would love to see it in hand someday!

I can FINALLY talk about these damn kaiju after getting sidetracked by other toys. Had my eyes particularly on the Dabura, and especially Space Kaiju 3. I genuinely wish Chris was still here to see this comeuppance. We didn't talk a whole lot, but I feel like I could've had a field day of conversation with him about these. Preemptive apologies for the babble.

The Space Kaiju 3 is something of a quintessential pachi, to me, for what limited knowledge I currently possess. And, goddamn, is this thing massive! Almost every time I get a repro or vintage pachi in the mail I think, "I can't believe this big ass monster was a kid's toy!!!" The sculpt is so crude and janky and weirdly disproportionate, the legs bow inward, the arms have strange positioning on the body, and the head does not sit straight forward when lined up with the textures on the back, which remind me of some type of space crystals. All that being said, that's what makes this monster SO awesome to me. It's like there's so much character flaw that it adds it's own character altogether! I LOVE it! And the gradual swivel of the tail to the right breaks up a bit of standard placement rigidity for what's usually to expected of a forwardly lined sculpt. I also heavily appreciate the loose homage to the Bullmark Gomora Hawaiian paint app.

Dabura is actually smaller than I thought it'd be, but it's still pretty damn great, and holds a lot of detail. The dual heads are alien in nature, but with a very dino - esque body, and the textures on the back only further the alien vibe for me.It almost looks like its back is splitting open to expose a pool of...something...with a crest of sorts protruding. Or as if another creature with fins is swimming in its back. I'm sure the original intention was to just have stegosaurus - like plates, but sometimes it's fun to imagine some new shit.

This Hedo I'm no stranger to. I just wanted to get one of the "traditional" repro versions to go with the Standing and Crawling. Very happy with the additional sprays on the hands!
