Hi folks. A casualty of the early noughties HK vinyl scene I registered here years ago but forgot that username. Registered another but it’s taken another few years to get it activated! I’m here for the BxH posts but intrigued by Headlock’s recent work, not having dabbled wirth them since circa 04.

It was the Funko documentary on Netflix that resparked my collecting interest, albeit for vintage advertising vinyl figures/banks that featured in the mise en scene (rather than the Funko stuff).

New guy here, though not entirely new to the "scene"...Name's Jero! (*exclamation included, otherwise I won't hear it, as my ears are constantly bombarded by fuzzy guitar riffs*). Been lurking the forum for a while now and decided to finally sign up...I actually know a handful of you already, though I'll save you the embarrassment of being named directly ;). Hope to get to a point where I can contribute here, as much as I've already learned.

My name is Robb, and I have a untreatable toy condition.
I was born this way, and haven't shown any signs of improvement as I aged.
Fond memories playing with Dino-Riders, Ghostbusters, TMNT, Toxic Crusaders, Mighty Max, Aliens/Predator.
Also a few more obscure lines like the Trash Bag Bunch, Body Wars, Snailiens, and Savage Mondo Blitzers.
Huge horror movie fan, but pretty much exclusively monster & sci fi movies, not so much slasher and zombie things.

Most of my adult collecting years focused on DC Direct figures, random monsters, and some other odds and ends.
Though, as I've gradually moved away from a diet of solid superheros, I've tried to focus more on monsters.
As all of you, I really appreciate the freedom sofubi artists get to explore. Just raw uncut vinyl debauchery.

I'm a graphic artist currently living in Oregon.
Please visit my stupid instagram page, if you want to look at art and toys and junk!

For the hell of it, I've attached a few super old drawings from a decade ago.
But, I felt they were the most relevant things that came to mind for this forum.
Hope you enjoy the Scratch-N-Sniff Kids!

Welcome to the forum, Robb. You'll find some great discussions here on monster/sci-fi related stuff, even if the toy focus might be a little more divergent than your tastes. I think you'll find a decent local contingent of like-minded folks on here as well.

    Thanks @ultrakaiju and @trueadrn!

Oregon DOES rock! Though, it's getting kinda overrun here in Portland.
Lots of demolition to make way for luxury apartments and LA style joints, a lot less room for weirdo counter culture.
Still, if you ever visit Portland check out Floating World Comics, Gravy Toys has a little mini shop in there.
Always love ogling the cool sofubi and other oddities BwanaSpoons stocks the shelves with.

Hi everyone, I'm Alex! My first introduction to the hobby was back in 2004 or 2005 when I was around 10 years old and a relative took me to the original Munky King shop in China Town LA. Now that I'm older (and have enough disposable income) I'm finally able to actively collect. I'm looking forward to some great discussions and, of course, awesome toys!

Greetings, My name's Alex and I'm based in Leeds UK. I've been lurking in the background here for a few months waiting to get my account authorised, hopefully I've got the board etiquette down.

I've been collecting toys since the late 90's when I started reconstructing my childhood toy collection. Since then I've just been buying vintage gross-out/monstrous/weird stuff without being a completist of any toy-line. I was really into Takara SF Land stuff particularly Henshin Cyborg and their UK versions Cyborg, Muton, and Android produced by Denys Fisher. Which was what made me aware of the 'designer' Japanese toys in clear vinyl with visible innards and the whole vinyl toy scene.

Wonderful, great to see someone coming here from the Denys Fisher HC line. I do have great love for all of those, and used to be in the early days of the board this place was hopping with such discussions. I am sure you will find a treasure trove of info here to sink your teeth into. Welcome to the board, Alex!

Thanks! I used to be a member of the Visible Innards toy forum till it shut down. I think that was the main Henshin Cyborg forum at the time. I still get misty-eyed recalling those days. I've already read through a ton of old threads on here and there is some great toy history preserved herein. It's a shame when a lot of the image links have expired but nothing thats worth knowing comes easily

There must be some correlation between this particular addiction and also acquiring a vast array of eclectic interests.
What kind of a collections do you have going so far, with a resume like that?

lol I think it may just be how we’re wired. I’ve had an addition to collections and toys since I was a kid... currently collect fine art, mineral rocks and sofubi. Used to collect transformers, my little pony, he-man, she-ra, garbage pal kids, basically anything 80s lol been collecting sofubi for 8 months now and I’m finding my favorites. This is becoming a serious problem lol

ps saw your drawings in the thread. Love ☺️
