Really sorry to see this happened with your purchase @zindabad - especially with such a rare blank.

Is this your first Ollie? If you are looking for just the sculpt, maybe Rich has some other colour Ollie blanks he might be kind enough to offer you? (I'm fully expecting to get blasted for throwing Rich under the bus here). I know if I saw somebody with a broken Cheestroyer no matter where they bought it from, as the maker I would offer a replacement as a token of being a fan of my toy and to make up for the shitty circumstances.

@badteethcomics thanks for the kind words; it is my first. It's cool that you go above and beyond, and I know Rich and other makers on the forum have too in the past, which is equally great. But in general I can't expect breaks from a maker for a bad aftermarket purchase they had nothing to do with, and I'm fine waiting for a different version to come around eventually. At least I know now that it really is a special kind of beast, and worth waiting for.

No worries - just putting it out there as nobody would be in a better position than Rich to make amends for something that happened that really isn't anybody's fault - more age of vinyl/weather. But hey I guess I've got a different level of appreciation for fans/customer service.. it's a pretty top dog gesture to make, and would definitely make MVH the MVP in the sofubi good guy hall of fame ;)

I have been sticking away from the FU thread for all the negativity it can breed, so this is the first I am reading of this. Two cents here, for anyone who wants to keep reading.

    @zindabad I have mentioned this a few times on here, but yes, this is something I have actually seen occur. It is not all that rare or unexpected in fact, when you do live somewhere that deals with what others might call 'extreme colds' on a regular basis. [Sensitive people hold on to your bloomers, but.... ] Soft vinyl is just plastic. It is fragile like any other material under the right conditions. Without getting into the polymer chemistry, at certain temperatures it can behave like a very rigid, glasslike material. {For reference, while I am now living elsewhere, my brother is currently somewhere where temperatures are -42oC - that's -44 F for all the Americans; yes, that is even below the point where the two scales match. So yeah, there are collectors literally worldwide, and cold is a real factor you have to think about. :idea:}

So, the key lesson here is packaging toys well. I have requested many, many times when I used to purchase toys from boardies, and yes it has been awkward and a hassle (and I still offer apologies to anyone who might have been put out by this), to which I am ever so grateful to those sellers who are willing to go that little extra bit to offer protection. Well wrapped, with plenty of space between the toy and outer box, should be a fairly good buffer. Even the most expensive of items can theoretically be shipped by post (with some insurance I would hope), when they are wrapped according to their need. Unfortunately, people may take a vinyl toy for granted in this fashion. One of the worst things you can do is use a padded envelope only, which I can't even tell you how many times I have actually experienced. :( It' really asking for trouble, both in physical force damage as well as paint scratches. And boxes can get crushed too, so please use one which offers plenty of space around the toy, as I said above. That gives an extra safety margin for banging, denting, collapses, etc., to still keep your toy inside a safe cocoon zone. Imagine a 'buffer' area if you will around the toy. All this of course relates by a degree to the value of the toy. If you spend 0.20$ on a Kinder-Egg surprise, maybe you don't want to go to such extremes. But if you are buying or selling an 'art toy' worth several thousand dollars - which it seems is something people do - then just plan/request accordingly; that's all I am advising.

Again, this is mainly due to handling, being a massive unknown with postal handlers anywhere along the route, and when you have an especially long journey to cover, you are only increasing those odds of being a little 'rough' at some points. So while I could not rule out for certain a customs issue, it does not surprise me if this was just a very unfortunate combination of circumstances. No one person may have been at fault, though I know this does nothing to alleviate your sadness in the damage, for which I totally feel ya.

As a final nerd-out comment here, I will say that I am fairly certain that this Ollie was once a mixed parts beast, like all of the other CCM releases. I have seen quite a few (from certain dedicated collectors) which were 'built' up in solid colours from the mixed parts ones. For each full pink completed, there is likely a matching blue, etc.

    Anyway, really sorry @zindabad.

PS edit: if I see any of these CCM Ollie's come up for sale I will definitely let you know.

Public service announcement: Your 1 off Krawluss is not your dogs chew toy. Maybe someone else likes putting meat or peanutbutter, or other flavors dogs like inside their toys?

Ahhh shit - rough week for MVH collectors. I'm sorry to hear that David.. I'm guessing the pooch got bored during a day home alone? I don't have any pets, but I think if they day ever comes - an investment in glass cases will be added to the budget of dog/cat food/bedding/kennels etc.

Richie boy should definitely replace this one too! Probably with two one-offs to make up for making his toys so tasty to our furry friends..

I should have been more clear. This Krawluss is not mine, just something I saw. Also, it looks like a dog chewed it but I'm not actually sure what caused the damage. It's been a rough week for mvh toys.

On a side note, dogs tend to leave toys alone and know what is their's to play with. At least after you've trained them. If they're puppies, they'll chew everything. I have had lots of toy shelves within reach of our dogs and only had 1 accident. Which resulted by a toy getting knocked off a shelf and my mother-in-law dogs got to it.

I thought about buying it and swapping the head and arm with the unpainted version. I guess I shouldn't be saying this idea out loud though.

The damage just looks like what a dog could do, just my guess.

Yeah there is definitely a solution to be had if your clever. One would be to just clean up the gouges, fill them in with zap a gap so it’s not just holes. Then make it bloddy. I know a few customizers that could pull it off well. It just sucks though, since it was the first set of one offs if I remember correctly.

I really do wonder what happened. At first I thought it was some sort of paint flaw, maybe some off gassing released paint. But this is highly unusual on opaque vinyl. They saw your post and went back to look and shit if looks like it’s been through the grinder. It really does look like a small dog got at it. Wonder if the lister would fess up to what happened.

@animator would love to see photos of the big guy's recovery as you figure it out. I'm waiting for this insurance business to clear up, then getting a friend to fill the chest with foam to stop it flexing when the parts move. Then potentially a bloody paintjob over the cracks, and a weathered bandage. Here's where we are for now:

    Brilliance !

Zap a gap is what I use to fix cracks and bond vinyl. If take it apart, get the cracks lined up and then from the inside start to fill in the crack. Use the heavy version so it doesn’t come through the cracks and use the accelerator with a q tip. That makes it dry up instantly. I’d do this in layers. The. That crack will most likely never break. I mean it’s as strong as it will get. And I bet if you asked Jeremy of Miscreation toys to do a custom using his staples and utilizing the crack as an actual cut , maybe add in a glass doll eye, he’d make this one hell of a custom toy. It’d get my stamp of approval that’s for sure.
