I don’t think that’s bad at all actually. Considering it’s a new sculpt, large, has lots of moving parts, pad printing and a print. And considering he’s sold gorilla Ju for $800.00 in the past.

I mean I don't think it's terrible... at the very least it's what I expected.
Other than a few Gargamel pieces and other stuff, by the time I got deep into the sofubi part of toy collecting, prices were already like this.

But, you said it's large? I thought it's normal fight figure size?

It’s the printing in the backside. It looks to clean for masks, but I could be wrong. I’m assuming since he’s done it in the past for other Fink Shit.

Re: pad-printing, I can't see the image, but I know what you are talking about now... thank you @Rich

Yeah it’s very chunky and large. Not a jumbo but pretty hefty. Lots of work for sure.

To be honest I’m starting to think so. Because they do win a lot of the time.

time to brush up on my shitty instagram repost animators!

i will say it does seem like hirota is rewarding “loyal” fans. seems like a risky idea given how absolutely fickle people are. i would rather have a river of fans than a 100 foot deep kiddie pool ‍♂️

Honestly, I’m just happy to see the Finkshit alive and well, regardless of whether I win, or have to endure an avalanche of pick me posts.

How does it make you feel when the same thing happens when you announce a lottery? It's a collect to show off and get more mentality. I'd like to think deep down they are true fans and this is how they show support. The pessimist in me won't let that happen though.

What I hate is the endless reposts, I go to like them, only to realize it's a shitty repost.

I dont typically repost (maybe i did once or twice) unless requested by artist. In this case i think it only really makes sense for a lesser known artist anyway (to get their name out maybe?)

But, I do like to share a picture of a favorite toy or group of toys during a lottery. To show my support for the toys I love. I agree thoughtless reposts are stupid, but this makes me curious...

Do you look down on sharing of original photos during a lottery? Why or why not? As I mentioned above, I am all in favor of sharing **original** content during a lottery.

Personally I’m not a fan of it. It doesn’t help. You can look at a feed and tell if they are a collector or not. But if it’s only pick me photos usually it’s not good. And I know it’s bothers other collectors so I prefer people don’t. Just keep being you and post what you would any given day.

But yeah the reposts. I fall for the same trap thinking it’s hxs only to realize it’s joe blow reposting for attention. If you want hxs attention and just have to post something, maybe a pic of your collection in a fun unique way. Not just prayer hands and the same image literally everyone else has.

This makes a lot of sense and you are definitely right (re: telling if someone is a collector). Taking my own IG feed for example, it should be obvious that I am a genuine collector, supportive of the works that I collect, and appreciative for the toys I have been lucky enough to acquire. And I definitely wouldn't feel happy to learn that a certain lottery was just a code word for who can suck up the hardest.

The reposting definitely seems to be a tactic that is used more by collectors overseas, although I am not sure when and why it started. Or, just as lazily, copy the pic, throw it in Werble or similar app to try to look different. But it's really just the same old shit. I've seen a few accounts where it seems they don't even share their own pics, and seem to just have reposts of "hyped" sofubi lotteries.

Scrolling through my feed today, it is almost all reposts of this lottery and the TKom lottery that closed earlier this morning. I usually click "Like" just so they stop showing up when I refresh... While I think genuine appreciation and support can help a fan to acquire pieces, I think the "Pick me" caption is probably the least effective way of showing it. Try to build a genuine connection with the artist you want to collect, that's a different story.

Not trying to start an argument but I don't think you (or anyone else) can.

It's easy to post a shit ton of toy pics (whether yours or just ganked from elsewhere on the www or someone else feed) to give the appearance of being a collector. Or just shoot 'em as them as they pass through yer hands prior to flipping 'em . . . it's all just an illusion.

Conversely, I and a bunch of guys I know/follow have collected this junk most of their life don't 'do' social media and/or rarely post toy pics. It's just one element of their life so gets no more or less attention than any other aspect. Anyone looking at it wouldn't think 'Hey, they look like they must have cabinets/studios/basements/attics/garages/storage units full of dumb plastic dollys!'.

Then again, there are genuine OCD freaks that do actually collect and have the overriding compulsion to post every single goddamn toy that drops through the letterbox! *unfollow*

Where the new wave of Asian collectors falls is anyones guess!

You absolutely can tell. Not 100% of the time, of course. But that is splitting hairs. We are talking about the rule, and you are here commenting about the exception.

Maybe they just genuinely enjoy taking pictures of their toys and sharing what they are passionate about? It's funny to me that you would unfollow someone for this.
