Cheers, you're welcome. I enjoy digging this stuff up for my own amusement, so its cool when other toy freaks enjoy it too. I'm not alone !!
Don't visit the thread or hit 'Like' half as much as I should, but just want to say all are appreciated @The Moog . . . Keep up the great work fella!
Thanks for saying so, and i'm glad you enjoy it mate. I'm nothing if not habit based so i enjoy searching for this stuff.
Thank you for sharing these information gems @The Moog, the price of the Ninja Arashi talker is 1,300¥ and the Kikaider 1,500¥ at the price of now that is nothing but at that time it must have been an expensive toy considering that a standard figure of sofubi cost 350¥.
I know these aren't retro in reality, but I think that it fits the thread in spirit. Takara Tomy has released a new bunch of gadgets called "THE SHOWA Series", and hot damn I'm super into them. The ads made for them are incredible and era specific (60s, 70s, 80s). First is a television! You use your smartphone to watch videos through an app as the screen. There are three styles of viewing: 50s, 60s, or 80s, and occasionally the screen will get snowy and you have to tap the TV to set it right. Next is a bluetooth speaker called Showa Record Speaker. You link to your smartphone using an app and it makes your music sound, well, kind of shitty (lo-fi). The speaker also has the ability to switch from 44rpm speed to 33 1/3rpm which slows down your music! Not shown in the video: when you touch and interfere with the record on your phone's screen it "scratches" the music. This one is my favorite! Lastly is an 80s boombox! It's an AM/FM radio and also has the ability to record small audio clips with it's built in microphone/speaker (I don't know how long the clips can be). Honestly this is the least desirable for me, but it's still cool. I'm hoping that these are just the first in a bunch of new products. Being that they are around 1/6 scale they would go good with many of our figures for photo shoots & videos (as well as things like Hot Toys and their ilk). I'll be heading back to Tokyo in August and be searching for the TV and turntable for sure! Edit: if anyone is interested and uses Amazon Japan, they are all on there. https://www.amazon.co.jp/タカラトミーアーツ-...s=昭和レコードスピーカー&qid=1559264153&s=gateway&sr=8-3 https://www.amazon.co.jp/タカラトミーアーツ-...s=昭和レコードスピーカー&qid=1559264153&s=gateway&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.co.jp/タカラトミーアーツ-...6CCHDW0GTA5&psc=1&refRID=2VHQ8JVX26CCHDW0GTA5
