I want to make some capes for my Uncle Steve figure. Does anyone know what/where you can get the thin vinyl sheets that they use in Japan?
In the past I have cut up beach balls to make capes for my Star Wars figures, not sure if that will help.
They sell a lot of that type of thing on eBay. Or Craft shops and Upholstery shops. Faux Leather or PVC cloth. That doesn't answer your question but there's a myriad of that type of material available, it would probably take a bit of trial and error if you wanna match a particular type.
Bwana had some really nice capes made for one of his Suns figures (Terry King Bootlegger). Out of the bunch of vinyl capes I’ve seen, those have been my favorite!
The material or materials to choose from is rather easy to source. Trial and error comes with the thickness of the materials. Beach ball seems rather thin. But i know they make the sheets in different thickness
From my experience with quite a few 10 plus year old neo kaiju figures and also vintage, thin vinyl capes don’t stand the test of time very well at all. I would think thicker material is the way to go, whatever the material may be.
