No no no, the problem was that in 2017 TAG released 7 blank non painted doublethinks
    brown
    green
    Pearlescent grey green
    Pearlescent White
    dark blue
    red
    lavender

some of these did not even come with the chain.

flooding the market with blank sculpts in that short of time kills any sculpt.

What do you mean by 'kills' here? Like they're sitting on the site unsold? I never really followed Doublethink so I'm curious

kills as in market saturation. When I tried to buy TkoM stuff in 2016, doublethink was not that expensive, but not that easy to come by either, both painted versions and blanks were scarce. The only blanks were yellow, GID, bubble gum, and clear frost, once the blank colors started to pop up once a month at various toy shows, flippers who did not want it just bought them up and tried flipping them. when you have 20 - 30 doublthinks pop up each month and not that much demand, the sculpt is saturated. I remember blank doublethinks, sitting in yahoo auction for months and not getting sold at retail. as a doublethink fan it was really hard to watch, and even I got the feeling that Tkom should not release these blanks at this speed, and "thought" that TkoM should do something about this. and he did. I don't know any of the details, and I am not trying to say TAG is horrible, I am just saying the sculpt was killed because too much was released too soon.

There were 6 releases, all at shows, with the most being around 8-10 pcs and the price never fluctuating. The demand is still there but Taka doesn't want to release any more. TAG decided to honor his wishes and discontinue the sculpt. It's a bummer.

This balance and character of this sculpt is AMAZING! I love the colors too. I might even like this one better than the original doublethink.

It'd make one hell of a toy too if he could get it to size down nicely.

This new guy really shows how diverse his world of monsters is. I'm impressed that every sculpt looks cohesive and works sitting next to any of his other sculpts.

Couldn't agree more. I feel like if you can tell who the artist is based on the design that says a lot, and he definitely has his own style I really enjoy.

I would like to see some additional sofubi sculpts soon. Gama ain't my thing and I prefer the older Doublethink, but his new wooden sculptures and the Demogorgon are absolute favorites of mine

What's with the words, symbols and tags on the new fellow? If there's a backstory or 'in universe' explanation I'd like to know. Even with that, though, I imagine that I would still find the printing to be, erm, distracting from the illusion of reality that I like my toys to provide for me.

Tkom doubled his price on the latest drop. I hope that is due to the gallery wanting a cut and not the new normal because if so I'm out. Fuck a $800+ run.

This little guy was 5,000 yen on a run of 100 that was a pre-order shipping in October. I really dig him! I was hoping for a sofubi version of the magic dragon but this is a pleasant surprise
