I have recently come across this Japanese toymaker, but couldn't find any info on Kto Kto here in SB (or elsewhere), so I figured that I would start a thread and maybe others could chime in with more info. So far, I have found out that Kto Kto makes these (IMO) awesome little monster finger puppets. As far as I know, there have been 4 monster series to come out with three figures in each series. I have gathered a few photos that I have found on IG, and here they are: Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series Kto Kto monster series
Kento-san is awesome- I got to hang out with him on my last trip to Japan. He is Mirock's assistant- really really nice dude and cool toys to boot
I have been following this gentleman for quite some time. About time we had a proper thread for 'em around here. Having seen Kento Sato grow as both an artist and a painter, I am seriously blown away by some of his recent paint apps. Super fun stuff to collect. I look forward to contributing to this thread!
I've chatted with him a few times.Very humble and such a great guy. He has a few new sculpts in the works.
It's a clear with internal paint, with a few touches on the outside. Super nice dude and every box comes with a personal thank you. He just really digs that people like his toys and art. Super nice guy!
Also, there is a fifth set with a melting witch and he also has some larger stand-alone figures outside the finger puppets.
Do you have the photos or links to some of the photos so that I can put them up? Any additions to this thread is welcome.
Just came in the mail today (from a fellow SB member - thanks!)! (Apologies for the sub-par photo) Kto Kto series 2 These little guys are fantastic! Nice detail, great paint app, and the sculpts are amazing.
So it looks like some toy creators in the scene have taken to Kto Kto for some sculpting work. What do you guys think? I like the club a lot personally. It would appear that it was a collaboration between Science Patrols and Kto Kto. With regards to the Toxic Rider by Bad Omen Toys, it reminds me of RxH a little so I can't actively dislike it. I read its based on an action figure kit bash so perhaps this look which I'm referring to really came through via Kto Kto's work on the sculpt.
Think you might be confusing two things? The Berserker Mace is a Death Cat release sculpted by Kto Kto, and the hammer is Science Patrols, which I'm assuming Corey sculpted himself but not 100% sure.
More sculpting work by Kto Kto. This time for the new artist “Thurscream”: Simple but I like the Peko chan vibes.
I love his work and he's such a great sculptor. The other head on that with the bug boy hair rules. I immediately thought of banshee/Jason with this toy.
Not a knock on his sculpting, or the toy itself, but another dude who can’t do his own sculpting or painting asking 300 bucks for pretty much a chucky doll.
I like this toy quite a bit.. The face having the Peko Chan nod has a vintage vibe that’s pretty fun to me. I also really like Kto's sculpts though.. It's more on the subtle side compared to certain other toys of late trying to jam every reference they can into one big mess.. Just my opinion though, I can totally get why people are put off by the price point. I do have a first hand sense of Chen's toys and the quality and work that goes into them. And Bug's paint apps are always really great.
Yeah, $300 is IMO almost double what this should cost. Kto Kto is immensely talented and underappreciated in the scene but this seems like an attempt to "fix" that and align with current market prices. I like the toy but not $300 like it. I'm excited for his kaijyu battleground playset with Tru Tek though. Hopefully that ain't priced the same.
It's not a Kto toy. As far as I'm aware the prices for his own stuff haven't budged, and I don't know how much influence a commissioned sculptor has (if any) over the sale price.
