Really interesting sculpt, but that green is odd. That's probably the wax sculpt, right? Can't wait to see the finished product all painted up though, this would be a great sculpt for paint rubs.
@topher Thanks for posting Chris! CUT NOSE is in production and hopefully I'll have some test pulls soon. He stands about 8in tall and is articulated at the head, arms, legs and tail. Scale and proportions are based on various vintage kaiju. @hellointerloper The green is just to show they are glow in the dark. They will just look like regular GID sofubi. It's hard to get accurate color when you only have photos of a grey wax sculpt to work with.
I got that same version, it is so beautiful. I have to bug my boyfriend to take some photos with his fancy camera, I'm too scared to even touch that thing.
My post office held onto these two for a good three weeks; they were absolutely worth the wait. I was a little unsure about trying for these versions of Cinematron, since I'm so taken with the one I missed at Five Points. But the more I look, the happier I am. The painted version evokes especially strong memories of the movies for me--the bright red of my old cinema's kitschy plastic trim, the blues and pinks like dyed-to-hell candy my mom didn't want me eating. Even though the gold fade and trim around the lens is metallic, against the milky vinyl it feels somewhere between a robot's shiny chassis and a popcorn butter-yellow. And all of it highlights parts of the sculpt but hides others, leaving the knotted mess of film wrapped around the torso like a secret to find with your hands. The parts feel so restrained by themselves, but together it's extravagant. I know I'm going on, so I'll just say I really love this toy and shut up. Here's the photo, finally:

Lookin’ super clean, Mikey! Cinematron is such a great toy. Super original design and character, but Aaron managed to pour a certain type of pachi vibe into the sculpt. I definitely would like to own a few at some point!
Cool toy. Who knew there were so many versions. The mvh paint and your picture really gives me a new appreciation for the sculpt. Nice collection Mikey!
Enjoy bud ! Yeah this one was so hard to photograph with the subtle color changes and all. But man do I love painting these
@Rich 's paint work was of course fantastic. MVH typography painted on a toy is one of the rarer things I see and it's nice to see it so prominently. Maybe I am hallucinating but I believe I read somewhere this piece lights up? I haven't seen many photos of it and it kind of looks like a holographic sticker is on the chest. And if someone here has it and it lights up, post a video of that shit!
@kid_miracleman I could be mistaken, but thinking maybe you read Mark's IG comments on wanting to do a light up feature but not being able? I would love to see Bob (Plaseebo) take one of these up a notch and tinker with it to make additional features such as mentioned. Since he was so very much into early cinema, would love to see an Anton LaVey tribute that plays "Satan takes a Holiday" and projects old stag films! So far Mark and Rich are my favorites.
It 100% lights up, I have seen it in person, he installed a light behind the screen and you can turn it on from the back
Cool....... I was about to revise my previous message. I looked back over Mark's comments and what was referenced was wanting to add a flickering led where the projector lens is at the top but not being able.
I recently shot a slew of Cinematron photos for Aaron of Uh - Oh Toys, for which he self produced a zine, and the entire layout and design for. He had them up for pre - order, so if you didn’t manage to snag one up I feel bad for you. In the process of shooting these Cinematron(majority provided by the kindness and trust of @obsessedpanda) I also came into a Pizzatron blank! While shooting the detail shot of the hand I thought I was lookin’ at a skull on the glove, but came to realize it’s actually a garlic bulb. That open - to - interpretation of the sculpt, I found, was insanely fun for those few seconds. Spoiler
As I said in the other thread, I think Aaron did a really nice job both with this character and the execution of him. I think he is a lot of fun, and totally captures that classic weird character feel, he is Robocon all over. Only thing missing right now (for me) is to see him done up in one of those vintage Popy-style paintjobs, and I will be all over it. So if anyone is working on any customs for these dudes, please drop me a line. And yes, the little touches, like the garlic bulb, are just perfect.
