that deffo sounds like a cooler plan than spending a whole week in London.
Whitby is also great fun if you are up North

Traveling in a triangular formation is always a good plan....unless it’s near Bermuda then I’d probably skip that.

After a bit of back n' forth, I'm realizing that travelling from London to Bath, up to York and then returning to London is FAR too much for a 5 day trip. With that in mind, I'm leaning towards London and Bath. That way we can hit Stonehenge on the way to or from Bath. I'd love to see York as I am a very big viking nerd and the battle of Stamford Bridge took place just outside the city so it'd be cool to see but we just don't have enough time and I don't want us to be rushed in any way.

with that in mind do you guys have recommendations on travel to and from? I've been pointed towards the Oyster card and wanted some other opinions. Cheers.

Just got back last Saturday. Travelled from the 10th to the 18th! Stopped in Iceland and hung out in London from Monday til Friday! Had an absolute blast!

Ah shoot, just missed ya then! Hope the trip was a great one. Might not be much in the way of toy scene here, but still plenty of other cool things to checkout. Iceland is great too, definitely one on my 'destination' list, but sadly I have only ever made it to the airport!

No worries, brother. The trip was definitely memorable, filled lots of incredible moments. I think visiting Stonehenge and the Roman baths are a moment that will stay with me forever since I'm such a lover of history. I can't tell you how many people, including a handful of individuals from the UK who downplayed Stonehenge to us. "Oh it's just a couple big rocks next to a highway". No. A thousand times "NO!" Stonehenge blew my mind. Also the Tower of London was incredible. Hell all of it was incredible, I wish I could describe it better but I definitely need to go back.

Also steak and red wine pie is one of my new favorite things. Cheers.

I'm based in Leeds UK. There's been a bit more toy-related activity here over the last couple of years. There's a regular toy sale called collectorabilia from which I've had a few unbelievable bargains (Automan figure for 99p).

Also, this year I went along to ToyconUK I think it was called? There were a few vinyl figures there amongst all the Funko Pops. I picked up a Skinner toy and a Bruzzy from Zukaty Toys and I think there were a few that I missed based on the pics I saw.

Is that local to Leeds only?

I'm based in Bristol and there is pretty much zero sofubi anywhere, even Bandai are rare finds. I was hipped to a hobby shop a while back but he had mostly Diaclone type stuff and no vinyl to speak of. Classic miserable shop keeper as well, so grumpy it was funny.

Look, I am as grumpy as all &%$£, but there is no reason, as the face of business (and a small, niche one relying on customer support to even stay afloat) to be so judgey and rude. And yet, even in 2019, this is still a regular occurrence.

Typically such behaviour will result me in walking straight out of a shop. Sure, I've probably missed out on some cool stuff from time to time, much in the same way as going through flippers, etc., but that is just fine with me. I'd rather support folks who I believe in, even if it costs me more in effort or money.

I thinks it's just Leeds as far as I'm aware. There doesn't tend to be any sofubi at that one, I got a few madballs head-poppers last time, which I was very pleased with.

    https://collectorabilia.com/

The other event was called ToyartUK not Toycon, my mistake. Probably not worth the effort from Bristol though!
Apart from that, there are few places you can buy vintage toys and no sofubi at all. It tends to be dinky cars and all that gubbins. Not even vintage Star Wars.

I tend to not buy from grumpy bastards either! to hell with that noise.

^ Ahhhh, Bernard Ludwig Black; the glorious exception to the rule. Plus he's got Manny on hand for counterbalance.

Yes, the prostitute robot from the future that supplies the delicious coasters (that look like biscuits).

Maybe the grumpy shop keep enjoyment is a Bristol thing, i can think of so many growing up. The blokes serving in Forever People (quite grumpy towards younger kids), the book seller in the local market (very grumpy), the bloke in the local games shop (miserable).

The best one I used to enjoy was the owner of Revolver Records who looked like Greg Proops. He had a habit of taking the piss out of most things people bought, but he did it in such spectacularly sarcastic & witty fashion I thought he was great. I remember one time I bought a Dub Syndicate album he actually approved of, his face was a picture because he couldn't take the piss out of that one. He was suddenly like a different bloke, enthusing about dub reggae and being all positive and shit.

not just a Brizzle thing..this guy was legendary in London..his shop was called 'Haggle Vinyl' and he wasnt really up for haggling...The deck and headphones for customers to use were held together with cellotape cos 'why spend money on the customers...?' anyway this little doc is actually a cool insight into his world.

"Why? Because I'm old, ancient and wise and I understand money better than they did They were interested in music and I was only interested in money."

What a bummer of a statement.

Not a clue sorry, but their auctions seem a bit overpriced.

Youve just reminded me of a fantastic record shop I found in Edinburgh.it was so filled with piles of vinyl that it was impossible to get into the shop more than a few feet. I ventured in and started to actually touch some of the precious things and this grumpy scot asked me not to touch the records and if I wanted something I had to ask!
When I pulled out my handwritten wishlist of records I was after he immediately softened towards me and scurried around the shop filling the list. I’d been forewarned by the guy in the previous record shop I’d visited to make sure I knew what records I was looking for.

No, sorry. There's a few UK sellers who sell sofubi (one of them changes their seller name regularly) but I'm pretty sure it's not this 'sup4fly'. The listings are a bit boutique, a bit 'high end' for my tastes. Although, I will say I've seen kumon go for way more than that.

Thanks for the reminder. Not sure if my access to the site is currently blocked, but I can't seem to get anything to load. In any case though, might be something to consider. If a few SBers are attending, do post here (unless you really want to remain incognito, which is also totally fine).
