New Japanese sofubi company that made it's debut at Hobby Round 22 event on October 6, 2019. These were their debut figure sets of Shin Godzilla sculpted by Masami Yamada. Second release of the Shin Godzilla sets painted for Character Fest held Dec 1, 2019. New debut sculpt of 1954 Godzilla for Character Fest held Dec 1, 2019. This was also sculpted by Masami Yamada.
Looks like nice big runs of everything, judging by the amount that have made it onto YJA already. Enjoying all of them but the smooth noodly arms on an otherwise textured Shin Goji are throwing me off. The '54 looks pretty darn close to the suit to my untrained eyes, but I still think it's styled beautifully.
The Kamata kun realllly looks like the standard issue first Bandai release IMO. I love Godzilla as much as the next guy but I’ll wait it out before I decide on collecting this new brand as only the 54s seem somewhat impressive so far.
@Gojigirl posted this pic of her '54 Sarujirushi, and it honestly won the internet for me today. There is no way seeing this toy could not give me a smile, and it was some cheering up I needed. I am so happy that such a toy exists. Everything about it is brilliance; this is what monster toy collecting is about. Thank you, Linda. View this post on Instagram
You are welcome! I love this guy too. I was going to improvise one to look like this but never got around to it. Been looking at that photo SO many years. This one is a very satisfying release. Thanks for the mention.
I like the 54 and ukulele molds a lot. The Shin ones arent really hittin for me though. They seem like a $8 bandai Ultraman toy or something.
Think this will be sold at a Japanese online convention. Unsure how to register even with a proxy address, or if that's even possible. Click through for the original instagram post.
you can register, it’s just the usual navigation nightmare of a Japanese 1990s website. I guess it opens up for previews a few days early on the 16th. Who can really know
I thought this was interesting... a snapshot taken from Saru's recent IG story: I heard from one source it might be an attempt to repurpose the coveted Nauts storyboard Godzilla while getting around licensing issues by sculpting a new head.
It definitely looks like the same body, legs, and tail. I just noticed the arms are new as well. Anyway, I could be mistaken but I believe the storyboard was sculpted by Masami Yamada so they're just repurposing the mold. Photo courtesy of Kaiju Battle.
