    It's relatively rare, Kenrick's Superman.
    Went for: 127,000 yen
The art on headercard and inside card it’s just amazing.

Wow, some real choice pieces posted over the last page. Roger thanks for sharing that one, I had no idea there were Japanese version of the Dino-Riders. I was recently hunting one of these actually, as I have a niece whose absolutely favourite saurian is a monoclonius, and this is one of the very few lines which actually has one (named as such). My pre-Christmas hunting was not very fruitful alas.

Shoot, I have to agree that that GID Zazahn was quite a nice grab. Such a grail piece, and just a plain amazing toy. A fair price for someone to be able to adopt him, with some nice paint condition too.

Was watching this auction closely, as - up to a few hours before the end - this guy seemed like he might be a real steal. Ended up climbing to more 'expected' levels at the end, and boy howdy, is he a lovely one. Gary's are always right up there in terms of character demand, and so, while not being a first Marusan issue, this one doesn't really surprise me that much. But in any case, very lovely to see one come up for sale with such nice paint remaining, you could easily mistake this for a modern repro from the condition and quality. Such fantastic blue and cream paint, even with some wear, on that lustrous green vinyl. It's no surprise it has been mimicked/homaged countless times. One of my [and many, I know] sincere favs,

    Vintage Bullmark Garamon (second appearance)

I was watching that one too. Super cheap right up to the very end (not typical for garamon auctions). Speaking of, I was a little surprised this one went so high. I was going to try making a peg leg of some kind for him.

Shoot, even for a peg-leg junker, I don't think that is too bad. I missed that Marusan one or I might have thrown some bids in on it. I tend to have a great soft spot for misfits toys (as my shelves will attest to), and for a chance at one of those I surely could and would accept some defects.

Funny how the Bullmark one jumped up so quickly in the end. The low price had me very hopeful - I mean, of course there would be some other eagle-eyed toy hunters like yourself - but the seeming reluctance of bidders did have me doing some extra digging into this version to see if I had overlooked something on him, or in the description (which was scant at best).

Here is me hoping, with digits crossed and breath held,

I had to do a double take, you almost gave me a heart attack thinking I missed out on a garamon that ended at only 23500Y

^ Exactly, Charlie. That was my reaction when I noted the listing and the [nearly] going price. Sorry for any unintentional misleading, but I'm happy to see that some others get pumped up with vintage toy excitement when they see these listings, too. :)

Hmmmm!!! I would really love to see that toy in person! 5 inches of cuteness and a special stand too! To bad we can't open the bag and see what the backing card looks like. Thanks for the extra detail, that is a spiffy toy!

I think that if I had something like that as a child I would have enjoyed it a lot, I wouldn't take my helmet off even for a bath.

Heck yes!! This - or even better - and Ultraman version, would have been my golden toy as a kid, and I would rarely have been parted from it. Such items were really my jam (you know, when kids had imagination). I had a space helmet which was my dear companion for many years, and have tried for decades of searching on the internet to find something similar. I loved any kind of plastic swords and rayguns too. The best thing was my complete mashup of any genres, I really didn't care about how it was supposed to come together {I once had a costume of my helmet with a Superman outfit, for example... photo not to be shared here ;) }. Man, this post is really taking me back. Thanks for that, Roger.

@deafmetal thanks for posting Mark, I was also following those two vintage kaijus, but I had my doubts with the last one, the Bullmark Kanedoras, isn't it repainted? The yellow looks very vibrant as if it had just been painted yesterday, it seems that it was never touched, looks new.

Tough call. The paint on both of these does look extremely mint, I fully agree Roger. But it isn't necessarily unheard of. One of the difficulties I [would] face [if I could] in spending this guy of money, somewhat blindly when you only have photos on a website to go off, is not being able to see, touch - and yes, even smell - what the toys are like. Some parts on these could have been repainted, but they were definitely done professionally if so. I think the strong bidding lends confidence to others as well, rightly or wrongly.

@Alebrije - Roger, I am not familiar enough with this one, but at least two people put up a bidding war on it. They do look almost too good to be true, but I'm not seeing any wear on the appendages either, and look like they were never played with either. Bullmark magic escaping unscathed from the past?

If you look at this example from the UK archives, it looks fairly similar to the above , even more yellow and possibly brighter/more brilliant metallic blue (and actually also appears in very fine condition):

I agree with Steve I would not spend that amount of money on a figure of which I have so many doubts, for some reason I have the feeling that at least the last figure is repainted or with some paint touches to make it more desirable, I do not have doubt that it is vintage, but if it was repainted even by a professional for me it deserves much the value of the figure.

At least this one Have some paint wear in the belly and for me the shade of yellow looks a little different, but I can be wrong, You don't see this kind of pieces every day.

@deafmetal Mark I have seen that King Joe in the Mandarake for 400,000 yen, so after all the final price of this auction is not too bad.
Those Bootleg Hedorah are amazing, but don’t like the prices.
