Well, well, well. I've never seen a two headed gorilla toy before. How refreshing.
And a face on his belly, never seen that before either.

    Grytpype-Thynne: Have a gorilla.
Seagoon: No thanks... I'm trying to give them up.

Grytpype-Thynne: Are you sure you won't have a gorilla?
Seagoon: No thanks, I've just put one out.

Siiiigh. Don’t get me wrong, Mark Nagata can paint a mean galaxy. He’s definitely talented in that regard... but he’s using the wrong canvas. Covering a toy in cosmic vomit takes away so much character from the toy itself, the details are lost in a sea of black and stars. It’s just one big spacey mess.
Like... make some killer header cards, photo backdrops, or something. Don’t ruin a toy. :?

Also, that gorilla made me laugh. It’s like “hmm, let’s jump on the gorilla sofubi bandwagon, but we have to stand out somehow. Oh, I got it, DISGUSTING PUSTULES EVERYWHERE! More acne than an angsty teenager sucking the oil off a slice of pizza!”

Sounds like a good name for an Ed Roth style custom hot rod.

Its amazing how this trend will not die. How many more before its finally over?

New set of toys, Dong (a Gorilla with a massive... dong) and Creatorzilla (it’s like Godzilla, but with a belly face that looks kinda constipated!)

I m fascinated by this thread. Super interesting to see what people consider fugly.
On one hand we get to see the absolute worst in terms of neo sofubi whatever and ‘customs’.
On the other, I find myself tickled when I see toys I collect or am curious about.
Those last pages for example made me aware that I own quite a few toys with vaginas or vagina-like appendix (Queen Hagopus and Fungoid man from Wonder Goblin for example). Never really thought about it. Hagopus is one of my favorite neo sofubi sculpt, not because I think those vaginal openings are particularly provocative or that a toy with vaginas with teeth is super cool but because in my eyes it’s an amazing, badass, queen alien monster.
Having said that, I am not too excited to see 2,3,4 headed Kongzillas wearing Nike’s appear on the market and I am more than dubious regarding all those Trump toys. I don’t see what’s so cool about having that stupid head on my shelves, even if he is a dog, or in the body of a constipated space monkey.

Thinking about @nico000 ’s post and his listing of a bunch of toys I don’t know by a maker I’ve never heard of I got to thinking... I wouldn’t call most of the toys on this thread “neo-sofubi”
They’re more “post neo-sofubi” if anything; they’re toys and designs inspired by neo-sofubi.

Well, actually I’d call most of the toys in this thread garbage, but I’m just thinking in a more academic sense.

    Absolutely.
Although, 'The most garbage toys you have seen while collecting' doesn't have the same ring to it.

Wait a minute, its been a few posts since a fugly 'post neo-sofubi' has been openly mocked on this thread.
    How about this one?

Two heads. How original. The only good thing i can say about it is - at least its not a two headed gorilla.

I guess they got lazy and decided to use the exact same mold for both heads? Those arm attachments make me weep, though... like someone nailed them to the body.

I think I've seen that head on a normal body first, so they just made a new double sized body.
Yeah, they look like those old wooden toys, minimal construction to say the least. No effort necessary.

At a certain point they all just start to look the same. With that said I'm guilty of making a toy with a face on the belly.

I've got a Bear Model toy with a face on the belly, had him for years and I love him. But after you've seen it so many times (like the two head trend) it does get played out. A lot of these newer makers are so derivative its boring, they don't even try to hide their influences. I've seen so many MVH rip-offs, its ridiculous.
