In recent years, I've found myself using a pop culture reference to people in my office, only to get blank stares in return. Considering many of them were born in the 1990s, I shouldn't be surprised...

Off to Amazon to buy a flat cap, slippers and a pipe...

Stumbled upon your fine community and knowledge base on a day just like this, searching the interweb for plant based kaiju. Been lurking especially hard in the Gargamel, Target Earth, Marmit and M1 threads ever since. No collection to speak of, so please feed me Conifas and I'll start snapping and sharing pics [IMG] Thanks for having me, and thanks to James for approving/activating my account!

Welcome! Off the top of my head, there's an M1GO Greenmons for sale over on the marketplace board. If I'm not mistaken, that board is invisible until you actually make an account, so be sure to check it out.

Hey, I wanted to re-introduce myself here. It's been quite a while and I barely posted last time. I'd really like to be more active in the community.
I'm a character designer and illustrator who also works for a local college. I love toys, monsters, punk, psychedelic rock, and comedy horror.

I've been collecting for about 6 years now. My first taste of soft vinyl was in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. I initially saw the coke bottle Bandai Godzillas at Jungle and I was so enamored but so broke at the time. I just remember searching "translucent Godzilla toys" and it led me to Skullbrain, which lead me to catch the collecting bug. My first toy was the GID mini Tim Biskup Dragamel and I have been collecting ever since.

I already know a chunk of you on IG, I'm IzzyRodriguezDraws
I collect mostly T9G, Biskup, Bwana Spoons, Super7, Kasing Lung, and M1.
Look forward to posting more toys here.

Thanks for the warm re-welcome, David! Always loved your Butanohana pics!
It's been a lil while since my last major adoptions, unfortunately. Last grab was my Shikaruna Dagigon. I was SO happy to find one in New York City, let alone anywhere in the wild. I want more.

Hiya...London based toy lover and arty fart here. Currently wallowing in a Bullmark/m1Go/Marmit hazy lockdown. Painting some cheap knock offs and life drawing is getting me through. Not been in a scene since grindcore gigs and roleplaying groups, so feels good to say hi at last.

Welcome to the board @Sophie_Sofvi , you have found the right place at last! :) If there were any toys I would suggest you isolate yourself with, I think you've already checked off the key companions. Agree with Rei, really nice IG feed; I see you've got great taste. Also nice to see another Londoner around these parts, even in these times, still good to build some regional communities.

Welcome, share, learn, and most importantly, enjoy.

Hey everyone! I'm fairly new to the Soft Vinyl toy scene. I think I found my way to toys via Mondo movie posters. I purchased a couple of pieces that I had to end up selling because they were indulgent purchases that I really couldn't afford. I'm now in a place, financially, where I can truly begin to start my collection in earnest.

Some favorites artists of mine are Retroband, Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, Science Patrols, Rampage Toys, and many more.

I hope to meet fellow collectors and attend shows once the world is in a place to permit them.

Welcome to the board @SteveGo. Not a usual pathway I don't think for folks finding their way to the board, but you have come to the right place. It's a hobby that takes a lot of balance, one I think even after years/decades of collecting, people still have to work on. My advice would be to take it slow, avoid impulse purchases, and buy what you love versus following trends. These things will save you from unnecessary purchases, and end up building things you will treasure for a long time; it's about patience and the long game in this hobby. Cheers!

Hi there mine name is Paul. Been collecting vinyl for 30 years. Always loved the sculpts and designs. Being a sculptor I always wanted to find a way to bridge my sculpting and collecting interests together. About 12 years ago not having much money I sorted a way to make vinyl like toys using neoprene and stone molds. I had great success with this for years but still wanted to make vinyl toys. After much investigation and research I put together my own tiny vinyl company Mile High Sofubi. Now I make my toys from vinyl and have the pleasure of working with talented folks across the country, and world for that matter making vinyl toys for them.
    Thanks for having me!!

Welcome Zontar. Have definitely heard the name thrown about, so it is good to have you on the board. As the hobby expands, it's always interesting to see new ways it is developing and influencing others.

Hi I'm Nick, and like some others I've lurked/read for years. I'm in love with Return of Ultraman/Zazahn-related stuff, among other things, and had been modestly collecting for most of my life. Things have progressively gotten out of hand over the last decade, and so it seems I am really, really collecting (primarily vintage figures and paper-related things) at present. I prefer to keep purchases focused and my stuff confined to certain household zones, but even that is getting messier. Happy to be here! Thanks, @ultrakaiju!

Welcome, welcome. So good to have another Zazahn nut on here. Vintage, new, and everything inbetween, the ol' seaweed monster does it for me everytime. Heck, he's even gotten me to break my 'non-realistic' toy versions rule, with the cool waxy CCP figure. Glad to have you Nick. Enjoy the depth of the board, and you'll note now as well you'll have access to all its ins and outs (for better or worse) which aren't visible to lurkers. Dig in, have fun, and I look forward to all your shares.

Hi there! I'm Andy. Not unlike many, I started out collecting Kidrobot. I live near Super7 and picked up a mystery bag a couple years ago for the shirts, but it came with a Sofubi Mummy Boy. That sort of reinvigorated my interests in toy collecting.

I do enjoy digging through the various threads on here and seeing how the hobby has progressed over the years. Nice to meet you all.

    Welcome to the boards!

No judgments from me! We all have to start somewhere. My first "soft vinyls" were Hikari Metaluna Mutant and Creature from the Black Lagoon. For years I never noticed that they were actually released by FUNKO. Which, I gotta be honest, kinda killed my enjoyment of them quite a bit

Weird, right? They still look the same as when I bought them, but that stink of owning something that is sort of a distant cousin of a FUNKO POP really keeps me up at night. Maybe my tastes have changed some too. Now I see them, and they look so... uninspired. Too uniform. Kind like just bigger more detailed POPS.

WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN CANNOT BE UNSEEN.

Welcome @jujubees ! I am jealous of anyone local to such places of toy worship as Super7. I envy the access, but also the influence such proximity could have had on years collecting. You'll find quite a few from the local crew here I suspect. Dive in and enjoy the board.

Greetings everyone, my name is Kevin! I'm a huge fan of sofubi and all things weird. I fell into this rabbit hole back at DCON 2016 and I've had the bug since. My all time favorite sofubi is the "Apalala" figure from Devil's Head Productions. The figure itself just really resonated with me, I grew up watching horror and sci-fi movies, taking an early interest in the monsters and the practical effects used. I have since added toys from various artists such as; Paul Kaiju, Splurrt, Wonder Goblin, Max Toy Company, and Mutant Vinyl Hardcore. I tend to be fairly selective with the toys I buy, but the longer I collect the more eclectic my shelves become.
