Really sorry to hear about his passing, as just a few days ago I was reading about tributes being paid in his honour since coming down last week with coronavirus symptoms. He was a legend in music, and deeply respected by so many of his peers, including his contemporary legends Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, and Bruce Springsteen. From his debut album in '71 through to now, his output has never faltered, or failed to be both touching and incredible. This year just saw him get inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award. Anyways, you guys know the music, I don't need to cover it all here. This is hard news, after battling through ups and downs, health struggles including cancer, and still always delivering such great music. I am happy to hear that his wife has made a recovery, but so sad that another great artist has left this world. Thank you for everything, Mr. Prine. May he RIP. John Prine 10.10.1946 - 07.04.2020
My mom loved this guy so much, I remember she would play his cassettes during road trips when I was a kid. I remember a story of them going to see him in concert and standing next to Paul Shaffer (the keyboardist for David Letterman).
You could do worse than starting with the first track from the first album... ...and working your way forward from there.
i was supposed to finally see him perform this summer with emmylou harris and am selfishly stricken by his passing. he's sung plenty about where he is now...i wish peace to him and everyone close to him.
Love it. Tender, touching and heartwarming. Thanks for sharing that. I’m sure @missy will also love this if she hasn’t already seen it
