I like the goofiness of this guy. I might get it if it was $20 and one-headed

10" of nothing for $230shipped. i wouldnt dislike it as much if it was 6-7" and not a perfect square.

Ah, PLT. He definitely makes ugly toys intentionally. I kind of liked the toy in the bottom photo because I thought the concept of a wrap-around tongue was cool, but I didn’t like it enough to buy it. The weirdest thing is he USED to make oddly cute sculpts.
I would totally buy that, given the chance.
Don’t know why he switched to crude, ugly sculpts, but what I do know is I don’t like them, don’t want them, and they deserve to sit on this page.

I may have to swear off this thread, as clicking on it daily is giving these bro-hobbyists more attention that I'm comfortable with them having.

Seems Mr NNN and Lulubell Luke are the main inspiration when it comes to the sculpting aesthetic of the new wave of 'fugly' toys.

All starting to blend into one deformed humanoid kindergarten project.

Fair enough, but they don't need any help. This shit is everywhere, I never have any trouble finding it, as you may have noticed. Many people comment on this thread that 'surely nobody buys these things?' but i can say with confidence that these new fugly toys and customs are really selling, even with their ridiculous price tags.

Yes, this thread could be described as masochistic, i'm constantly posting 'toys' I think are shite but I also enjoy the opportunity to take the piss and criticise them too. On FB and Blogs all they receive is blanket praise, so one little thread on a chatboard is doubtful to change anything. Which is fine, personally I'm just mucking about and having a laugh with it.

It's the future of sofubi Grandad, throw your taste and sophistication out the fucking window!

    Ding Ding Ding

We have a new weiner... every one of this cunt's toys are a blatant rip-off. I came across a listing on Mandarake and googled the maker to find a instagram link for here and was disgusted at what I saw on their account. I'm getting tired of these dumb fucks watering down the soft vinyl scene.. cashing in on hype and characters that they don't have permission to use. This piece of shit wouldn't sell any toys if they weren't a crappy-ass version of Baltan/Garamon/Zollmen etc.

Out of curiosity I’ve been looking at the ig pages of the “fans” of all this crap. Looks to be self-proclaimed “sofubi addicts” with way too much money and not enough taste

I found this cool promo card by Rotofugi x Gargamel that i forgot about, dates from Dec 2010.

Eerily and unintentionally prescient of current trends, don't you think?

Wait... that 3D model looks awfully like the Zollmen Brain Dog Thing, but also Cojica’s Mecha-Tyranbo.

Do these people have even an ounce of creativity in their bodies?

^^ Yeah, it is a bit of an ironic name for sure!

Being honest though, even though I find a lot of their stuff Fugly (especially the customs) I enjoy checking them out. They are certainly different to the usual gore-porn nag rip-offs with dicks and tits and the overly ornate shit that's hip nowadays. Also, they seem to be having a lot of fun doing what they do, and not just jumping on the sofubi bandwagon. Compared to most of the new breed of sofubi designers they are doing their own thing ... at least.

I was feeling very stressed, then I thought "ugly toys are recession-proof," and it made me chuckle.

    Love you guys and gals!
