Whelp. I finally had the package returned email from Mandarake today, on something I had ordered ages ago. I don't mind the wait actually, I just hope it all arrives safely [eventually] and undamaged. Probably not going to do the upgrade to DHL, as it has not worked as well for UK deliveries and is much more expensive here and I also don't want Mandarake eating the price difference for these, when it is a situation totally out of their control.

Mandy got back in touch with me this weekend. I think they're upgrading me to DHL for free, since the package has been roughly two months in limbo. I had asked if I could add one more monster to my order, for a little extra, but they said "no". I can't imagine what they're dealing with right now, with all the returns flooding in.

Yes, they are doing the upgrade for free - i.e. at their own cost. But I definitely would not expect them to add more items in. This would require them opening packages, reboxing/resealing, and issuing new invoices for all those people affected. That is a pretty extensive ask, even without the bombardment of stuff they are now forced to deal with.

And I still feel extra sorry for all the smaller and independent outfits that just don't have these options. Let's all keep this in mind, and that there are real people being affected by the crisis, before complaining too much about dollies.

Just a heads up, it still being golden week for a couple more days means DHL isn’t accepting packages until the 7th.

Based on the communications that I've received so far, it seems to depend on the location. One offered to upgrade to DHL at no additional cost. Others have charged me the difference for DHL.

I’ve just had my email from
Mandarake and asked to go for EMS as this still seems okay to the U.K.

Got another EMS parcel which seems to have been a little delayed but still managed to make it so hoping this works for this order too.

Yes, no probs with ems here just taking a little longer but that’ll be Royal Mail social distancing from doing their job.
I’ve had parcels from both China and Japan come through.

30 days and my EMS tracking still just says “accepted”. I will not accept this! Actually I guess I will.

It's crazy. I have a package that shipped March 30th, with an original expected delivery date of April 22nd. It finally touched down in Chicago on May 7th. The frustrating part is that its STILL sitting in Chicago 15 days later! I totally understand the delay in traveling over seas due to the limited planes, but I dont understand the lack of movement once it's already here...

I had a package shipped to me from Japan on April 3rd and it still says “Accepted” on tracking. Hoping it at least gets returned to the sender at this point! :? Been patient this long, though. What’s another month?

To my surprise, a Japan EMS package was on my doorstep today. Says it was shipped April 16th! I never received tracking so I was confused initially.
I was not expecting that at all, so I'm hopeful for all of your Japanese parcels!

The good news is things stuck in EMS backlog/purgatory are starting to move. I got several things that were sent early/mid april. The bad news is we are still probably a ways off from them opening EMS/SAL up again.

I have a Mandarake package in the limbo of the Japanese postal service since April 10 and a couple of packages in the Buyee warehouse, but for now there is no point in processing the shipment.

@ungawa222 Yea, mines been there since April 22nd with no movement. I’ve seen some starting to arrive outside of Asia so I was hoping it wouldn’t get held up since it was accepted just before the cut off date but doesn’t seem to be the case.

Thanks, Kerk. Same here, from 4/22. Ah, well... it's worth saying again, as troubles go right now, waiting for a toy ain't nothing...

I just ordered something from Mandarake but was worried about using DHL since the only other time I used them it ended up being way more expensive than EMS, but I was pleasantly surprised that they quoted me 1,600yen. It showed up on my doorstep in less time than EMS too... Anyone know if Mandarake gets some special shipping rate that lowers the price? Only other time I used DHL was at ZenMarket

It's a good question @grosspustule, I ordered something and asked them to ship DHL which I was surprised to see came out to ¥9000 ... Ended up having them hold onto it for me and wait for EMS haha.

Oh wow, 9,000 yen would have shocked me too! The figure I ordered was from Manda CoCoo, and I did ask them in the order notes to ship it in as small of a box as possible to keep shipping costs down... maybe they worked some magic on the pricing of my package? Regardless, this was a good experience with CoCoo + DHL

Placed an order with Mandarake, two standard sized Bullmarks and a magazine came out to 4,130 for shipping via DHL. Not bad.

Received an order from Manda the other day, which only took four days to reach me, and just placed a second one. Both containing a single standard size toy, each around ¥1,500 via DHL to Norway. Shipping to here has always been a small fortune, so kinda puzzled and very happy about these friendly/magic DHL/Manda-prices :)

I think they negotiated a better rate with them as much of their business is tied to overseas shipment. Its unbelievably cheap. At least for small-ish boxes, cant speak to larger ones.
