Yeah, that Beacon doll is off-the-charts adorable, and without a whisper of forced chibification. So perfect.

A month or so ago a question was asked about buying vintage with damage. This is a perfect candidate for why I do from time to time. The missing tail piece is in the back and not obvious when sitting on a shelf, and it cost a tenth of what a nice one would. This guy survived some intense battles I am sure :)

Nothing wrong with that! Often, it makes me love the toy even more.

Ha, so you grabbed that guy @Shiverbones ! I admit, I thought about him pretty heavily for several days, and then wiiiiiip, gone like a flash. :) I am glad you did. The damage is unfortunate, but of course all part of his play history, and frankly - maybe it is because I have shelves of 'junk' toys - I still see the love for these dudes. Plus it is a great, and very affordable, way to get a shelf filler if/when you even feel the need to have an undamaged version. Glad that he was adopted, and has found a loving home. #misfitsneedlovetoo

I am combining a few recent mail days as I picked up all three of these Bullmarks separately. My first Anguirus, surprisingly found from an owner in the US that had kept it in a box since received as a kid back in the 70's. I enjoy collecting those stories almost as much as the toys. The Gojira had been stuck in a long-awaited package that spent the last few months in the EMS backlog, and the Ghidorah was a recent grab off Mandarake. I really enjoy the color and simplicity of vintage Bullmark paints, especially the mixture of matte and metallic paints.

The goji also arrived with a couple other plastic dinosaur toys:

@deafmetal amazing haul Mark, In addition to the rakugaki Marusan who is obviously the star of the group, that dark blue Goji is a beauty, but I am very intrigued by King Ghidorah, I really like the heavy paint on his body and especially that dark blue on the neck, I don’t remember had seen one like this, with that shade of blue in the neck, with that such vibrant colors makes it a very striking piece and I imagine it must have been one of the least expensive, for some reason many collectors do not value them as much as they should and they are pieces that most of the vintage collectors let it go.
For me this is one of the best vintage mail day of the year!

@Alebrije - Thank you, Roger. The King Ghidorah caught my eye as well. Most of the standard variants I come across have some metallic blue spray on the neck, but I have not seen one before with such heavy blue spray up to the bottom of the chins, and also nicely offset with the silver below it. Another nice touch on this one is a sheen of silver paint on the eyes over the red. It might have been done in error or just as an embellishment when hand-painting the mouth and horns.

Without having the piece in hand I could be wrong but from what I see in the photos it gives me the impression that the King Ghidorah was painted first in silver on the entire neck and then on the silver they put another layer of heavy blue color. As you say it could be an error in production or perhaps as it has happened as in other countries during the 70s and 80s with the production of some licensed toys that sometimes did not have the correct color of the toy at the factory and used the one they had available at that time. It is one of those mysteries that makes collecting more entertaining. But whatever it was, the result was a King Ghidorah more attractive to the eye.

Some killer mail calls here!! :o

@deafmetal bringing the heavy load with those classic Toho Bullmarks and Marusans. You are totally right about the stories, I value them much more than the toys most times, which is a real shame for me as something is lost (forever) in the modern day purchases from YJA, Mandarake, etc. It is good that we are trying to preserve a little bit of history with our collections, but it is really the lives, experiences, and adventures these toys have been a part of that make them truly valuable [to me at any rate]. You got three examples in just lovely condition there, and it's such a treat to see such good paint versions. The 'graffiti' and partner Godzilla, well I think you know my thoughts on those already, but just incredible acquisitions. Two glorious members for your Goji family. Jealous and in awe. I am glad they arrive safely.

@Shiverbones The KZ line rules, I don't care one lick how overlooked it is. Deep, deep love for these versions of the Ultra kaiju. You nabbed a beautifuk trio there, some of the best ones!

@djkemp Astounding lot there, wow, talk about a box full of small delights. The silvering on those Enterprise versions is really something. I am trying so hard not to build a Kure Kure army, I just revel in that little guy.

I've really enjoyed researching and finding information while hunting for vintage kaiju.

It can be daunting at first but i've gotten more and more comfortable with it. This forum has also been a great wealth of resource.
The links that are still working are great!

PS. disregard the little guy, he's not vintage.

Whoa, that Zoffy is incredible, Brian!! Great score, and one I really need to adopt some day for the Ultra family (in vintage). Is that a normal mask version? What I like particularly about his guy is how his head fin and 'ears' were really accentuated to stand out from the mask. Vintage Seabosu is gorgeous as well, such good paint on that fella. Great to see you diving into the vintage collecting, and coming out gangbusters.

Ah, I just meant solid head versus removable mask versions. My fault for not being clear, I was just so excited. :) Both are highly prized - by me at any rate.

Great score @brobles, as soon as I saw the Ultraman Zoffy I automatically think on Chris, I think he would really enjoyed the photo.

This guy arrived today. He’s covered in a sticky goo. Any recommendations on how to get rid of it?
