_______ Sorry to hear of his passing today, at the age of 88. So influential across stage and screen. He really had an amazing career across the golden/silver age all the way to now. Sadly a recent battle with Parkinson's had restricted ongoing acting work. A very strong 'classical' actor, he had no problems - and delivered amazingly - across more non-traditional vehicles like Alien, Naked Lunch, Fifth Element, and Lord of the Rings. One of those actors you could definitely not say was typecast in any way. I think he delivered passion, intensity, and believability to all his roles. I am sure many of us here have favourite roles and memories associated with his performances. I think I definitely need to revisit some cinematic masterpieces touched by his presence over the next weekend. Sir Ian Holm Cuthbert, CBE 12 September 1931 – 19 June 2020
I will remember him very fondly for Ash and Bilbo, two epic roles. He was a talented actor and I'm saddened to hear of his passing. RIP Sir Ian.
This is unfortunate to hear. He's had many roles throughout an illustrious multi-decade career. Beyond the obvious choices, I enjoyed his smaller role as the estranged father in "Garden State".
Ian Holm was the only actor who didn't grant permission to use his likeness on his Reaction Figure packaging: I'm wondering, aside from the above, and the NECA Ash figures, maybe a LOTR Bilbo, any other toys that were made from his characters?
