Nice. I've always really liked that guy on the left. I think the yellow version is my fav.

Wanted to share some photos of my recently acquired Monster Parade set. I did some reading on them and they are recreations of some really cool old toys which had a mechanism in them which bobbed their heads up and down when wound up. These recreations by Zollmen/Medicom don't have that same mechanism in them, but they do have the amazing boxes with such cool artwork! The originals appear to be insanely expensive and rare... you can own them for just 1,500,000 yen?!

I was curious how the original's worked and found a video showing one of them in action:

Anyway, here are some photos, with more in the "spoiler":

That pachi head-bobber is nuts! Didn't expect it to move that slowly; if one can go for a long time I imagine it would be a little hypnotic. The Zollmen set looks beautifully-produced, as you might expect. Congrats on the fine new additions.

Thanks! I was surprised how slow they move also, really great to see one of them in action!

    Awesome photos! :D
Also, thanks for sharing the nodder video, that's pretty amazing! Perhaps it moves slowly because the motor mechanism is vintage. It's pretty risky winding that toy! Would be a very expensive "breakage", but nonetheless, a great video! :D

Second new toy in many years - this hefty die cast gold guy! Always liked the MB sculpt, but I think the vinyl version came out around the time I was winding down on collecting. But when I saw the first die cast version last year I put myself on high alert for a color other than red, and soon after was able to nab this! Probably done buying toys again for who knows how long…but if a blue or green version comes out I may be tempted for a second (or third!).

Comes with an adorable MB finger puppet too.

I have no interest in getting a second diecast (feels like cursing one of them to shelf dive eventually) but the bonus accessory really tempted me. Just like kids' toys, I guess!

Maybe it's because of my SB Phantoms and Exohead MMs, but the die cast Mad Baron seems incredibly stable. Certainly one of my least likely to dive toys, exceeded only by Bemons, Godzillas, and Hedorahs.

Very stable! Not like the plastic MB at all. It's more the weight--if it ever falls over, there will probably be damage.

That finger puppet is calling to me but I guess I'll just watch the aftermarket for one. Makes it more fun.
