Congrats on your first toy, Patrick! This is a pretty cool and fun take on he traditional Daruma! Hopefully I'll get a peak at Five Points!

Ha, that's clever. The sculpt is great.

Just curious, but why did you go with a matte paint finish?

I'm gonna channel Bob Ross for a second and just call it a "Happy Accident".

The only black that was available at the time was matte, which really didn't matter, but I didn't realize at the time the clear coat that I bought was also matte.

It gives an almost porcelain doll-like finish, which I really like. I was never a fan of the extremely glossy finishes but I'll definitely go glossier on a future run.

Fun design. Cool sculpt too. I love matte on all things including toys so I think this looks great.

I really enjoy the matte paint job, wish more painters would try it out.

Also was talking to some other toy people in Japan and we thought you did a great job with the paint. Congrats on this work dude, must feel great to put something out that isn’t crap or full of penis’.

Love it. I like the nice little detail where the eye patch strap is pushing down the fabric of the 'hood' or whatever it is. A subtle sculpt with plenty of character

Thank you so much! I'm happy to be putting out something that isn't just another two-headed monster or gross-out toy.
Thanks for the kind words! The pinches from the strap are definitely a key element of the design. It felt special for some reason when I first sketched it out and pretty much is the reason I kept moving forward.

Finally being productive again! Lots of new releases coming up. Here's a taste of what I'll be releasing this Friday, please follow me on Instagram for release details. This is a one-off with a glass eye and a magnetic leaf hat sculpted from epoxy. Supposed to look like strawberry but maybe look more like tomatoe? Oh well.

I'll be at DCon this weekend! Booth 1344, in the back of Hall C right next to Lulubell! I'll be sharing a booth with Bad Omen Toys.

I'll have the first ever run of the "Classic" colorway seen here as well as a couple other random painted versions and a ton of blanks! Come say hello!

What could a One Piece colorway look like? He is, after all, the King of Kaizoku

It's been about a year since I updated this thread so I figured it's time.

The Past: I had a few releases since this time last year. 2 Joker-inspired painted runs, a watermelon micro-run, and milky pink painted run, as well as several blank runs. I'm working on putting together a portfolio of all my Daruma releases and customs - I'll post it here when it's complete.

The Present: I found an unsold piece from one of the Joker-inspired runs so I customized it and dropped it in the shop today (sold out already). I also gave my web shop a facelift and cleaned things up a bit. A very limited amount of older releases are still available.

The Future: It's been a slow year for releases from me so far...but I've recently started working on a few new runs and one-offs. I've got 2 releases on glow coming up soon. Later on, I'm planning several micro-runs and one-offs over the next few months. Further out, I'm working on a DX version with arms and legs.

I changed the name of my toy. I resent naming things. It either comes naturally or it doesn't. "Kaizoku Daruma" always felt forced and temporary. "Y'ARRRUMA" is a stupid pun that came to me a few months ago and I decided it felt more authentic and fun. This was the first release in a long time so the timing felt right to change the name.

Here's the first of the glow runs that I mentioned above. I also released a run of glow blanks at the same time. Both sold out Friday night.

I also painted a bunch of customs as well but I'll post those to the proper thread. There's still a few customs left, if anyone wants to browse around and look here's a link to the shop or check my Instagram. Added fun new stickers too.

    Thanks y'all! More soon.

Finally warm enough in New York to paint again!

I'm releasing a run tomorrow on my web shop. It's the largest run I've ever painted, total of 10 pieces. I know that's still fairly small but it's about as large as I will go for now and will hopefully give folks a better chance to get one. I took some extra time beforehand to clean-up and sand the paint masks, and also some time to clean each piece after painting. I'm really pleased with how this run came out.

This is the "Godzilla Blue" vinyl from Science Patrol / Maruyama and it looks crazy in-hand. Depending on the lighting it can look like a forest green or a vintage blue. Might be my favorite version so far.

Follow me on Instagram for more details and posts.

Tomorrow marks 2 years since the debut of Y'ARRRUMA! So I'm dropping 2 new versions in the web shop (tomorrow at 8PM ET) to celebrate. Follow me on Instagram for more details.

Last run sold out so I upped the run size again slightly. Hopefully there is something for everyone who wants to score. I also tried to pick a time that works for everyone, which is impossible.

    Thanks y'all!
