    Right?

Now I regret all the awful things I've said to him and all the awful things I plan to say later.

p.s. just make sure you get the toy first, before you stop regretting what you'll say to him in the future ;););)

Andy has had the same avatar here for as long as I can remember and it’s on the stuff he always makes. But I see how can one miss it.

I am guilty of putting up a thirst pic with the sour lemon pin. Kinda was happy to be part of something SB and was low key stanning.

Hey Andy! I also have your patch lost on some Jean jacket I’m now too fat to look good in.

Radin's point is true though, a lottery is a random sélection of items within a population.

If you're going to favor your family, buddies, club members, it's totaly fine.
But that is not a lottery, be honest about it so one might reconsider his/her participation.

    Your toy, your rule.
    My knowlegde, my choice.

That's nonsense. You don't get to decide what is or isn't a lottery.

Most sofubi lotteries do not list the run size. You and Radin enter anyway. So if a toymaker gets 50 units of toy and gives anywhere from 1 to 49 to friends/family/well-wishers/evil-doers even with just one toy left it's still a lottery. You never know what your odds are before you enter because it's all based on how many people enter. You buy an actual LOTTERY TICKET in most of the world and your odds of winning are 1 out of hundreds of millions. Shit odds don't mean it's not lottery.

If you don't like the rules or info or lack there of AHEAD OF TIME don't enter. Being upset about willfully giving out personal information only after losing is just sour lemons.

I see what you did there.

also, asking for your name and email during the lottery submission I thought, was so that they could contact you and invoice you, should you win....

You are literally ignoring the comments an yelling into a vacuum. Having a 1000+ posts doesn't give you the ability to change definitions and what words mean. A lottery has a specific definition and using that as a way to generate interest in your offer

"That's nonsense. You don't get to decide what is or isn't a lottery." YOUR QUOTE

Having 1000+ post doesn't give you authority to bully people or make horrific arguments. Screaming into a dark hole doesn't make you right.

Nobody is complaining about losing a lottery you just choose to ignore that aspect of the conversation.

"A lottery is a low-odds game of chance or process in which winners are selected by a random drawing." Yes a low odds game. Doesn't mean you can then pick and choose who qualifies based on some random ideas in your mind that you never told anybody about beforehand.

That isn't my interpretation but the actual definition of a lottery. Please bring any arguments you want to change that. If you run a lottery and then only after that tell people that if they didn't post pictures of your toy then they weren't considered is garbage. Go ahead and defend that.

Actually, the person I was quoting was exactly complaining about losing lotteries.

He called a lottery he/she hasn't been able to win crooked simply because he/she didn't win. That is very obviously complaining.

    Reading is fundamental.

You call me a bully after coming here and saying all this shit about a longtime member who is known to be 100% on the level... "shady AF" "unjust" "playing a shady ass rigged game" "trampling all over everyone". You show up insulting people you just might get called out on it. Like you just did by half a dozen different people.

Again, if there are ten toys and nine go to people chosen by whoever holds the lottery and just ONE goes to a random winner that by definition is still a lottery. That's not a "horrific" idea, that is just a fact.

Your idea that toymakers give half a shit about your personal information is laughable. They use it so one address/name/phone number gets one entry instead of one person easily entering over and over again. Every toy maker I know deletes that useless info after a lottery is over.

I think quarantine made me like collecting more, but it also made me appreciate what I have.
I didn't have an urge to sell everything, but even with the absence of conventions this year, I didn't necessarily feel an itch to go pick up something new.
The thought of quitting crosses my mind all the time. Hell, I even got laid off during quarantine, but I would only quit if I was deeply financially pinned. I enjoy the hobby too much.

    Why not?
Also, I bet you the reason for throwing out some entries is not based on "some random ideas", but rather pretty standard practice.

Straight up, having this tantrum here isn’t going to change anything, and I’ve yet to see anyone that agrees with the sentiment to this degree(though you’ll find plenty of it on Instagram. Most collectors here just know better and move along). It’s been pointed out and discussed handfuls of times over the last seven years I’ve been on this board, that, some artists are genuinely random, names - out - of - a - hat lotteries, some artists support a few loyalists that have supported them while also randomly assigning wins to random collectors, and some artists solely choose, by hand, who does and doesn’t get to partake in the opportunities(the latter two are often products of wanting to avoid and evade flippers to varying degrees, with whatever rate of success/failure). No one’s mind is going to change or be persuaded, certainly not the artists. If lottos are really twisting nipples THAT hard then stick to shop drops or aftermarket channels. I’ve personally given up on at least five artists(off the top of my head) that I had zero success rate of years worth of entries. I get the gripes, the disdain, the frustration; all of it. But what is *actually* going to get accomplished here? They’re the artist. How they sell/choose is at their discretion, whether you like it or not. Who you choose to continue trying for/supporting is at your discretion, just the same. I can’t think of a single artist or toy that’s worth this much time and energy spent on not getting a hold of over lotteries.

Per the actual subject, though: I had something of a meltdown in my head about collecting and how invested I am in all aspects. Probably sounds goofy, but I had a hell of a time deciphering the thoughts and sorting through it, but I eventually did. Had my own process and reasoning and calming, which turned into really standing back and appreciating literally everything about this hobby all over again. I mean, I realized a childhood dream of finally going to Japan for two months in 2015, solely responsible through working with sofubi. Some of my closest friends, most cherished memories, favorite trips and weekends spent, all tied to toys. It’s a broken record from me, I’m sure, but it can’t be overstated enough how much the quality of my life and my *mind/mental* has improved because of this hobby, and what I’ve acquired through it. Even this board has been integral. It’s been seen as overzealous cheerleading, nut hangin’ even, sometimes how much I post and bring stuff up here. But I just really enjoy the dialogue and hearing what people are stoked on, and NOT stoked on! Coming here to see people’s come ups and collections is just as fun for me as it is to gaze over my own collection daily. I can honestly say, despite the occasional hang up and over analyzing, I don’t think I’ll ever not collect or try to be an active part of this community.

After a few rounds you start seeing how the conversations recycle themselves around here

Incidentally, I had a bit of the opposite that happened to @xSuicide Squadx , I’ve made some really good friends here but they’re no longer around the board and when I met other collectors at events in Chicago or NY I was really turned off by some of their attitudes and comments. If anything, SB is the one place I have fun talking toys. Outside of it, it seems a bit too egregious a discourse to have

@Waterbear : I really don't mind to loose a lottery as long as I know it has been (or at least seemed to have been) a fair process.
When you see some Instagram accounts with group shot pictures of every possible figures available that have been only released by lotteries, statistically speaking, it's shambolic.

Also, as you said, if you decide to do a lottery for 1 figure out of 50, still fine. But just say it !
That doesn't cost much, people will be able to decide if they take part in it or not.

I don't know about the other countries, but in France, whenever a shop decides to throw a contest involving a lottery, there is a lawyer appointed to ensure the process is not crooked.

I'm not asking that for sofubis, I'm just asking to have more information available when a lottery is opened.

But... It doesn't cost anything to enter, so even if there's just that one in play, why not enter on the off-chance? :?
