So, these are just buta paint (abnormally clean paint too) and package on the GGML zokki kaiju figures? I was hoping they were new sculpts by Buta. Or am I mistaken?
That’s right. Buta paints on GGML figures. Buta’s paints have been getting cleaner over time in general I think. Comparing recent releases with OG figures, there is quite a difference.
I don't own much Buta, but I am a big admirer, and I have been waiting with keen interest for a second release of this trio, because the Shiraji sculpt captured my heart, last outing. This paint app, however... ... yikes...
Really cool! I'd love one of those Goji's! I sure wish it wasn't so hard to get these cool toys (other then the aftermarket!)
So wonderful to see a Kong to go with the King Goji set, although - and I know I am being very picky here, if I was going to pick an ideal version of the new sculpt for a '62 battle set, I would have really loved to see the 'Gorilla' done in full size to match the Goji. There might be some effects of photo distortion/slight fisheye, but it looks considerably smaller and appears to be a midsize toy. It just seems like such a huge missed opportunity(?). I'd still bend over backwards for any of this new trio, of course. But hey, also have to be objectively honest with my toy opinions/wishes.
None of these are new sculpts. Just new versions. That goji and like three other sculpts are alittle larger than the rest of butas toys. The kong is basically the same size as all his standard sized stuff.
Had to give Godzilla a shot. I don't think we've seen a '62 painted by Buta in a long time now. Good luck and godspeed everyone!
Just curious, how exactly did you accomplish this feat of imagination? (if it is something on the DL, that's fine, but asking as so many of us have had Buta dry spells for nigh on ten years).
Oh absolutely. Was totally just thinking and dreaming of those ideal scenarios. I know, I know, one more in a long, long line of Buta dream wishes.
Aftermarket agents, the usual. I don't know of anyone outside Japan buying directly from Buta and chances are I never will myself Imagination indeed!
I noticed that the new Tyrannosaurus and Gorgosaurus have Tsubaraya licensing stickers on the headers (which are the normal dino headers). Anyone know why?
Ahhh... thanks. (Just me thinking out loud, but it seems weird to get a license to produce dinosaur vinyls.)
It's funny- the illustrations on the old header look more like the new dinos being made by Buta, than the old dinos from back when he first started using that header.
That's what I thought too! Went back to check some old header cards just to be sure. Nice to see the old illustrations being rendered into toys. Now if only Mr. O would try to make a Sufenodon!
From Mr. Ohashisan's blog entries, "work in progress" .... 4/19/22: Alien Zarab Set, new orange colors! 4/20/22: Magura, brown with gold metallics! Godzilla 1967, brown with blue and gold metallics!
