Thanks @kichigai I understand better now. I also see that there are at least two versions black gloves/boots and mine brown gloves/boots (which I prefer).

I tried to find pic of vintage suit but wonder if I am mistaken as there are no pics of vintage Spectreman HC suit on inner webs.

Carl or Koji would know for sure if a vintage HC Spectreman suit was done. All I found were pics of newer styled ones.

In any case you got the point.

I saw pics of a bin of Amapro older dolls at the SF 72 in front of the table with what looked like another version Fightas!

Trying to find the JP blog that I was looking at when this whole conversation relit last week. Will update again if I find.

Edit. Andy has this pic with that bin on his blog:

Wonder if all this stuff sold or what happens to the remainder, anyone know?

@kichigai You mean the head could fit on this kind of stuff ? : http://www.microforever.com/spectreman.htm
The fake spectremen on the floor have the same paint as mine except for the belt button that looks lighter (but hard to tell with this picture).
I already seen this hippo man in the middle of the table, but that's don't looks like Amapro style.

It most likely would fit on that series but was referring to the 1972 HC collection,
    sorta the grandparents of Microman

Hero Costume Series were just outfits sold to give kids a choice of whatever hero of the day they wanted to play.

Capt. Action by Ideal really inspired that
line more than GI Joe by Hasbro, which is the body Takara licensed for HC.

I am near certain the extra head only came with the 1st Fightas. That is the
one with black gloves and boots.

I would like either, not picky at all with
Amapro dolls. They all have much of the charm that I endear and seek out.

I swear I saw that Hippo dude a few years ago but different sculpt. I hope others chime in on that, I am curious as well.

Is it not just Daigoro (ダイゴロウ)? (Seen here with Goliath (ゴリアス))
If we're talking proper soft vinyl, Bullmark made the standard size toy - later reproed by whatever B-Club was calling themselves that year - and Bearmodel made a lovely midsize in the late nineties.

Not hep to any patchi variations of the character. School me?

    EDIT: Bullmark Daigoro:

    Couldn't remember his name, thanks.

Bullmark version is a cutie pie!

I meant that I thought I had previously seen that character in regard to Amapro but the sculpt looked different.

Also that had to have been 4 to 5 years ago so maybe was another maker's sculpt. Can not remember wish I could

I think it is the same after looking at it again but the crazy paints make it look different. Pic originally saw was clay.

Is that doll another collaboration with Marusan? What are the 2 dolls laying to the left in front of those?

I think that there actually may have been a pachi based off his chubby likeness too.
I am going through all my pachi tonight

Looking for the card with Fightas if I find other Amapro related I will post the result.
I wish Wombat had even half as many dolls.

No that was a test shot for a sofvi type model kit. Pic I saw was clay and uncut clay pre joint stage on a wooden base.

Sadly a few of the blogs that I used to take for granted as always being around are just gone. So glad that I saved pics

Looking at the pics from KK it may very well be the same... just so hard to tell with tiny picture but almost looks like it has doll eyes.

Almost certain those dolls laying down are 1 off Mechagonira. Damn I wish I could go and see these in person. Would have been great.

Thanks for your precision @toothaction, the model on the table looks like the Bullmark version in 2 odd colorways.

Oh shoot, that Amapro table is making me feel so sad about missing out on these 'fests. Even once in a while would be such a huge treat. And to see all those toys just sitting there. Man, if they opened up a mailorder website, I bet we'd clean 'em out in no time. Not sure on the Fighta pictured, as to me it looks like a different version; much more of a traditional colourway, with yellow instead of gold and a more reddish chest, more to my liking anyway. Could just be a trick of lighting though, impossible to be sure without seeing a better photo (or in person).

In terms of HC, I am no expert, but I think that there actually is not a vintage version of the suit. Not sure if it was because of licensing issues, or what exactly, but I do find it surprising considering that they seemed to cover just about every other tokusatsu hero of the 60s/70s era, including some of the more 'obscure.' All the Ultras, Mirrorman, Kikaider, Thundermask, Fireman, Diamond Eye, Iron King, Zero Fighter, etc., and even Jumborg A and 9. The omission is just to glaring it seems it has to be a reason behind it. And, just for a fun, a couple of nice group pics to demonstrate his absence from the line-up.

I am no expert though, so could definitely be corrected by some of the aforementioned knowledgeable folks here. (And apologies for any further derail in this great thread)

Not a derail at all to continue ongoing conversation as it relates.

I looked thru a few Japanese books on HC and none mention nor depict Spectreman, so I was wrong on that.

Weird that they never did that hero.

Maybe the extra head fits on vintage Bullmark Sofvi doll. That would seem logical with the information Daniel relayed as to the intention of the Marusan/Amapro collabs.

I only have a few Bullmark and a few B club but not Spectreman. Can anyone confirm those are B club Daigoro at the Amapro booth? Interested to know the facts.

I appreciate the coverage Andy provides but do wish that he had some additional details about folks he covers in relation to the "scoop" on what is shown.

I do understand that would be quite an undertaking for any single person.

In regards to that Amapro boardie sale that happened a year back...

I hadn't really been exposed to Amapro up until that point, and I remember thinking "oh, these are really interesting... but ehh, a little expensive maybe."
Now with all these absolutely insane prices everywhere for new and old releases (not to mention the fact that conversion rates are terrible) I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF! I should have grabbed some. Those prices were amazing.

Woe is me, but it's nice seeing those photos again.

Man, thanks for saving and posting that old sale David. That was really cool to see again. Fightas in particular hits all the right spots for me, but Amapro toys in general are so nice.

Amapro does custom paints on B-Club figures from time to time. I'd guess those were similar customs.

Really like his style on the vintage techniques.

Pics pointed out to me by a Japanese friend as well as poining out the source blog:

Literally had to wipe drool off my shirt after checking that site out today!

This image was originally on a Japanese blog from December 2005:

This was the initium of MechaGonira and this is a translation saved from then:

    Mecha + demon + gorilla

    December 19, 2005 (Mon) 18 hour 56 minutes

    Amapuro "Cyborg Monster Mekagonira"'s.

Amapuro's says, "" Mekagonira "is, once reproduce the charm of the" machine alloy, Mekagorira "which had been released from Marushin industry. "And Toka thing was. The Marushin also for me "machine alloy-Mekagorira" of the industry, the neck of the company's products, "Galvan" so it is a toy of only Sugekae to gorillas, it was with a corner and the star seems to Mekagonira.
    Hybrid! !

I did not know only Mekagorira of Akuron alloy, but it is always to be the Marushin industry if short take the corner and stars. . . It surreal. The body is to have heard that, "Galvan" Captain Ultra, you then feel like Deep Impact of Tsuragamae is good, even if something anymore.

Thanks for pictures and links @kichigai ! I thought Mechagonira was bigger, I love it much more now. Perfect size.

About the "who did what" on the King Caesar collaboration between Amapro and Marusan I asked directly at Ryuuji Kii Mister Amapro and he said to me that Marusan was just the middleman with the Toho for the license. He did the molding and the painting himself.

You are welcome and that is interesting to hear what Ryuuji relayed to you.

I agree the size of Mechagonira is very charming, it is previously stated but
there was consultation by Mr. Amapro on the new TE Machine Gorilla Sofvi

Hoping that they will work together more on future sofvi dolls, they are both
my personal biggest influences to make pachi kaiju, much respect to them

I don't think I will be adding more here ATM, good luck with your collections.

Very nice Mike, the sparkle on that fella is incredible. Such a crazy cool mashup of figures, mixed in with Amapro's own sense of creative monster factory genius. I am not sure there is any other comparable company out there producing such oddball - and fun! - toys. I just love that he completely does his own thing, and isn't trying to ape anyone's style or ride some kind of popular trend. And the more he does, the more he changes it up. This is toy design for pure love, and that is what I can really get behind (in addition to just admiring these spectacular toys).

Haven't posted anything in elephant's ages, so pretty happy to break that trend with this fella. I confess, I fell in love with this goofy guy the first time I set eyes upon him. Another amazing Amapro original. So much about this guy melts my heart, the incredible crude texturing, the genius grin, the nod to one of my favourite Ultraman kaiju, those spaced out googly eyes, the creamy semi-translucent vinyl. Basically, this guy (to me) is a brilliant Jim Henson creation by way of Japan realised in vinyl form. And oooh, that strawberry mouth. Be still Steve, there are people watching.

Please do keep all your hyped and overly artistic toys, this is where it's at for me. I adore him and make no bones about it. My only apologies for this toy are that my camera can't do him justice. Thank you Amapro for giving us such joy in your toys.
