Got my latest issue of ITA, (International Tattoo Art) was looking at readers submissions, and came across this.
see here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32116 after everyone ripped it apart i doubt anyone is going to speak up now
I still don't get this tattoo at all, but if it was mine I would claim it just to tell everyone here to sod off.
this photo is better than the other post. And if the owner doesn't like it well, that is what Lazer's are for...
Mind you this is more of the tattooers fault than the clients. Was this in ITA? I haven't look at an issue in a long time. I think Pfouts really had the magazine jump the shark in the early 2000s.
I agree! I've been a subscriber since around '96 or '97 (before they started covering up the women who had ink & the nipples & butts of the tattoos themselves) Chris seems to still be living in the ink of the 40's & 50's. Now old school is cool, but there a ton of new fresh stuff out there, that doesn't always get it's rightful spot. His editorials are still pretty cool tho.
96-2000 were the prime years for the magazine. I think he just quit giving a shit. Tattoo collector magazine is a really great publication http://www.tattoocollectormagazine.com/ So is "tattoo burst" from japan
I've never been into the tat mags, but pick up books every so often. I wouldn't mind finding a tat magazine that just had great pics of ink, but so many articles etc don't appeal to me. Lately I've been debating trying to get the out of print version of Full Coverage, or possibly the new book on Black Tattoo Art.
I'm already bummed about the tat and you guys aren't making me feel any better. I guess I could ink over it, but it's still so fresh and bright.
Honestly, I think it's pretty sweet... the face might not have come out perfect, but I think the colors are phenomenal!
Maybe it's not the greatest tattoo but overall is not a bad one. They missed some of the detail but since it's done in a simple " traditional" manner that's not such a big deal.
