So just as I was thinking lf getting the Super Star Destroyer, i see it's been retired. Anyone knows of a place that still has it at retail in North America (USA if possible)?
I can't help you there Oli, though that is one crazy set. I was always a bigger fan of the Star Destroyer for its style. I have to say here though, if you have (even some of) your Lego sets assembled and on display, I would love to see some photos of them all together. This is pretty damn amazing too! Who would have thought that a space Kraken would be such a bane to the Empire? But then again, they probably also didn't foresee getting beaten up by 3ft tall teddy bears, or their immense technology being susceptible to a simple piece of tow rope.
I'll sound silly, but that MOC is one of the main reasons I want the SSD. The paradox of being a dad is there is NO WAY I can ever have all my sets displayed. They would get smashed/trampled/eaten in minutes. Can you believe I have had the Architecture Studio set on my dresser for months and I haven't been able to open it yet? Just for the heck, I checked my collection on Brickset. I apparently have 298 sets for close to 70,000 bricks. It would fill a room... -EDIT Just realized there is a site for LEGO flippers! With tips on what to invest in, trends and prospect demand and all! It makes me sick to the stomach. Talk about leeches...
I want an architect set so bad, and the Falling Water set. They're PERFECT! I know one of those leeches and I give him hell every time he posts something on FB about what he's getting. He's not a SB'er or I would throw him to the lions.
I'm going to Brickfest Maryland coming up. Anyone ever been to one of these things? This will be my first one.
I have seen them on Amazon, but they're going for a pretty penny. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0050R0YB ... ot_redir=1
As I wrote, at retail. Otherwise yeah, it's not like if flippers had forgotten to stock up. I heard there might be some at the Lego Store in florida, at Legoland in Chicago and at a place in Wisconsin... Anyone with a long-distance plan willing to make a few calls for me?
My apologies. I missed the at "retail" and was quick to post. The LEGO store in Florida is out of them. I am planning a trip to Disney World in a couple weeks so I called to see, since I would be in the area. Best of luck on the hunt.
theres a contest to win a mini cooper lego set in the newest lego magazine-lol my daughters deal but I was fiending over it earlier
i just picked up 2 mini sets of the TMNT... they are nice builds, and my daughter enjoys playing with them.
Oh and total double post, but this: Which is sadly very valid. Lego rule and make lots of money. Why choose partners like Shell and McDonald's? Not making me feel much better about buying plastic toys.
to my lego brethren : anyone pick up the Lego Batmobile at the SDCC? I'd like a copy of the instructions. Any chance someone can help me out? my attempts to get the vehicle base correct haven't worked out so far. ***Edit, i found the instructions on youtube. I'm sure it will get taken down
Why would it? Most instructions can be found on brickset.com, among others. It hasn't been uploaded there yet but I am sure it will eventually.
i could see the resellers complaining just to keep the price up on the set. idk videos disappear hope it doesn't, I'm very glad i found it.
Peeron is great for older sets, but I don't think it's updated anymore. In other news, majorly bummed to have missed the Exo and Female Scientists sets. I went to the Lego Store, they were sold out and they told me I could simply order them online to be sure to get them. I check two days later, and both are completely sold out, in NA, Europe, and Asia.
We got the Female Scentists set a couple weeks ago @ carrefour Laval (an awfuly superficial place - don't wanna go back ever...) It's hard to beleive that it sold out there. You should call.
Apparently stealing Lego is the new thing for the underground crime world... http://www.vocativ.com/underworld/crime ... s/#!bPfHEu
Wow. I'm still looking for the Female Scientist and Exobot sets, by the way, if anyone sees them at retail. And the Super Star Destroyer, of course.
