i still need to get one of them blue spacemen, and a red tank for my red guy. set 442 looks awesome, but land vehicle with the claws is the best... so, you just have all those and never opened them? you weren't itching to put them all together and start a lego space community?
I had 442 as a kid. It had these cool thruster pieces modeled after the thrusters on the Apollo lunar lander. Jordan23 it's incredible that those boxes are in such good shape!
No they're opened and have been played with. I was just anal and put them all back in their boxes...lol.
I loved Legos growing up, and my wife is still a huge fan (only original trilogy SW stuff these days). We got roped in with the blind bagged minifigs when series one came out.
I used to get Legos when I was a kid (90s). I wish I held on to them because the current Lego series suck so bad. I had this awesome Metroliner train set.. coolest thing ever. I did buy the exclusive Toy Story Lego stuff to store away forever.
Thanks to a very sweet Valentine's Day gift of a "grab bag" of parts and minifigures from the LEGO store, I rediscovered how fun this stuff was again. Three hours of sitting on the floor, sorting and separating, and then The Building. This is what I came up with: Here we have a space trucker being pursued by space bikers (they may be Spacenoks). The space trucker's ramshackle vehicle was hauling a load of space engine parts to the nearest space depot. Is he just an innocent space trucker, though? Not really, the space bikers are pissed that he sold them some bad space meth, and now they want to dispense some cold space justice on his spacesuited ass. Anyway, tons of fun. These have also been invading my house: At least they're small so if I have 20 of them it's not that bad. The geisha and hazmat guy from the latest series are fantastic. I've been delving back into the old LEGO message boards and have been learning about the controversial decision to manufacture minifigs in China. I can see a slight difference in quality, but I'm not exactly a connoisseur of this stuff. Yet.
Nice work Roger! I've been stuck in a hotel room for the past three weeks, and have bought a few Lego sets to kill time. Manage to lose one block already (ugh!). My favorite is the simplest: a tiny x-wing fighter that cost 4$ or so...
Does anyone know of a good Lego board (skullbrain-like?), maybe with a BST section? On a phone so can't post pics, but I'm very excited with this year's Lego Star Wars Advent calendar!
Wow, thanks for posting these pics. Looking at the sets, I am amazed at how many I can actually identify from memory of years playing with them. This was when Lego was really great (in my opinion) and the stuff today, well ever since the late 90s I would say, just can't live up to it. While the modern-themed sets look nice, they have sacrificed all playability and imagination for this; and it's not a good trade-off. I just love the ability to pile all you pieces in one giant bin [though I am envious of the way you preserved these] and pick out blocks at random to suit your building needs. You just can't do this anymore. Oh, requiem for the days of rainbow towers! Fans should check out the Lego episode of James May's Toy Stories. I have seen a couple Lego forums that I remember browsing, I'll see if I can track down the info
The minifigure blind bags have been a lot of fun. I have most of them and it really takes up very little space. They've done 64 of them so far...really a long overdue idea for them. The only reason why I have ever bought a lego toy since I was a kid was to get a minifigure from a set...so I hope they keep them coming!
Just found this guy's work so I thought I'd post it here, rather than start a new thread... is there another lego thread on here somewhere that ould be better to post this in? http://www.flickr.com/photos/choking_hazards/ his blog has instructions on building your own lego skull... http://chokinghazards.blogspot.com/
I was good at not getting sucked back into LEGO until the latest minifig series. But these guys are so much fun and and now I'm thinking of getting the Mime. Delta Team by bullyrabbit, on Flickr
I've totally been sucked back in myself. Trying to focus on mini Star Wars sets... For now! Pics to come. I have a Lego/eBay question for you all: I recently got a lot and there's one tile missing and two that came in the wrong colour. Not the end of the world, and the listing said "what you see is what comes with each auction", but it also said "all 100% with books". The seller's not replying to my eBay messages. Now, I could get the bricks for a total of 20 cents on the Lego store, but they'll also charge 5$ for shipping. Is it worth leaving negative or neutral feedback? I'm more disappointed than pissed off, and not too sure how to take this...
Great thread! I've still got all my 80s lego at my parents house which my daughter plays with now! Got a huge (well it was to me then) box of basic stuff, knights, trains, space and a big tech lego car. Still have instruction booklets, lego club magazines and thick lego construction books full of ideas. My daughter is really in to Doctor Who and is collecting the Character Building figures! Here's another Star Wars link - http://www.geekologie.com/2011/06/theyre-stealing-my-other-blocks-impressi.php
I used to work for them, even got to talk to Gary Coleman when he called about the long discontinued line of Playmobil trains. Lego was the enemy =P
you could try these for star wars lego, i've had some success in the past... http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board= http://www.fbtb.net/ if your just looking for individual lost parts... http://www.bricklink.com/index.asp and for you minifig fans, you could load up on some weapons here.... http://www.brickarms.com/ http://www.brickforge.com/ i've given them up but still love to check it all out from time to time
Zbigniew Libera's Lego Concentration Camp. Not for every one. http://www.raster.art.pl/gallery/artist ... a_lego.htm http://www.chgs.umn.edu/museum/exhibiti ... s/zLibera/
I had a ton of them for the longest time and i even used to do a bunch of customs back in high school... Sadly other toys started taking space and my little brother showed interest so he acquired my collection... Now i have been grabbing the cool single figs here and there ( Hazmat, Mad Scientist, Monsters Etc. ).
Damn, wish I would have known about that! I like how it has slick tires just like a real F1. Nice attention to detail.
