You can't imagine the angst I felt Chris!!! (you can still see them in the sold out mode--oh so painful!) I'd been literally camped out at the office for an entire week (sleeping on the couch at night!), working on a deadline (and checking the Boards and the Shop ). AND the DAY I finally finish and go home, a whole EXPLOSION of rarity goodness pops up, and of course vanishes in an instant!!! I was standing at the Apple Store that afternoon, and saw the smoke that flowed through my fingers.... And no, David did not steal my candy! ...but, I did adopt that set of orange Pandoras. It was the first time I've EVER seen a price drop on a toy too! P.S. the other slap on the bruise, is that the glowie Thunder went for ONLY 6000 JPY Another pricing that I found incredible as well!
Ridiculously priced is more like it!!! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! P.S. Chris, don't look... the heartache is just too skyscrapery...
Already did before I posted. Strange how that Thundermask has eluded me all these years. Did I mention I could have bought the Thundermask Glow once from Mandarake many years ago but chose to pass toy karma on to Tim Plover? Don't regret that, but oh well what are you going to do? One day, I'll get lucky.
let it all out, everyone. looks like this thread has turned into an all-inclusive therapy group for anyone suffering from mandarake woes
There is no question that I have an addiction to Japanese toys, and Mandarake is my dealer. The kind of person you both love and hate; the pusher you cannot stay away from; causes you unending pain and grief together with bouts of profound joy; empties the wallet but fills the inner void; and I am definitely always chasing that dragon (or giant lizard or gargantuan ape or.....).
After figuring out how to get around my ban, i realized i had a "Mandarake problem" I slowed way way down on buying, but still check the site, and keep track of the daily update times. Thanks for the therapy thread, Ha!
No problem with Mandarake shipping . . . but I think the estimators may have recently started smoking crack!
^ definitely. Saw a Gargamel 2014 lucky bag painted spaceman on there recently for 15,000 yen. And the fucker is sold.
He does sort of look like he's smoking... http://youtu.be/TCUqpnSjjh4 Just got a perfectly wrapped Mandarake package this morning myself! Hmmmm, bearbricks...
Geez, nearly forgot why I came to this thread... Please excuse me for not replying asap ted.. My answer to your question is simply; because they charge too much. I understand the premise of "business" but I (maybe naively) still hope for the idea of a 'fair' market price. Hey I said naively. And for that I pass judgement. Mandarake suck. Viva la kaiju!
Remember that any type markets are imperfect! And even more those who speculate with the products, lol. But even still think they have good prices on some figures. Agree is still time for those exiled from Mandarake to send flowers and a forgiveness valentine card.
No kidding! I went there a few days ago looking for something and accidentally had "Show Sold Out Items Too" selected and nearly had a rage-induced apoplexy, until I realized that the actual currently available items showed that they had lowered their prices lately. Still drug-running prices though, don't get me wrong!
