Not a collector of Blobpus but DAYUM! . . . is there anything that doesn't look good in those colours! Nothing like blind optimism but when's the Chicken Fever being announced?
A-mazing! What's it going to take to try and get this one? The dark armor on the light vinyl is fantastic, and I still don't have any Blobs.
I swore to myself last year after seeing all the post-Comic Con sales that I was going to stay home this year and use all the money I saved from not going to buy up all the post-sales. That didn't work.
I haven't been to SDCC since 2006 and at the time I was just kind of getting into Japanese vinyl/neo-kaiju. Most any of the table representing this stuff were smaller and (more then size) had a very community feel to them. Since then I've wanted to return but each year get more and more turned off by the show boating and insiders-club feel I see from reading about the event. Everything from preview night only releases (many going to people who got dealer badges through hook ups) to just a bloated attitdue I'ev seen (again, strictly speaking of the neo-kaiju/j-vinyl) that it's really just given me this sour taste (and no, it's not me not being able to make it, that's a whole different bitterness ) I'm not saying any of that IS that way, but it's the feeling one gets from watching from outside. HOWEVER the GFS that Data and all these other dudes have set up has really made me wanna return. It's all so more down to Earth looking and just straight up about toys and fun. I'm super jealous I can't make it this year, I had to have my ticket refunded, too busy. This and most of the GFS figures look cool, even if I wouldn't generally buy some of that stuff, it's cool to see a big group table of people with real passion and a straight face to face attack of this type of stuff. Yeah, there's other reasons to hit SDCC for sure, but only 1 reason really makes me upset I couldn't make it.
To me SDCC was more about meeting folks and hanging with others that like the same stuff. Most of the stuff that I bought last year I have sold/traded off as they were just impulse buys. BTW, this Blobpus is awesome!

"BLOBTANK" will be in the Toxic Catalyst show opening Aug 21st at S7. In darkened room with color changing LED unit switched on.
