I haven't really been following the blobpus threads but I am really bummed that I missed this release. The paint job is so well executed for a production run.
Check out these cool customs at Andy's blog. http://kaijukorner.blogspot.com/ Thanks for the write up Andy.
additional pics/slide-show of the blobpus/hanawa-exhibition here: http://toysrevil.blogspot.com/2010/03/e ... pus-x.html totally amazing !
Did Hanawa san have a hand in the ones that are fused together? These have none of the elegance of the first Hanawa x BLObPUS show's best pieces. Not sure the Bufagins flow aesthetically. They seem to use warped LKS heads fused with melted Dokugan heads. If they're intended to be twisted they're at least successful in that regard. The Bufagin's so wierd maybe its the kind of toy it takes awhile to get an appreciation of. Not many standard Blobs or Dokugans, kind of a strange sculpt selection. Maybe Kaji san is bored with his best looking sculpts.
love the color on those deadstockers but they still look odd with the random heads on them now that dokugan is killer was this a custom for TK 2
If you mean Toy Karma 2 then I doubt it. There was about one Dokugan at each Toy Karma. First show had pink vinyl with green (HP). Second might have just had one Dokugan and one Docross (sprayed one offs). There were other custom shows. The green custom with a mouth and no eye looks like something from a different show but maybe its just similar to that. The Dokugan no idea where its from but don't think Toy Karma. Maybe Kaiju Blue or this show. There were a few GID one offs at Tokyocube at one point but had stopped collecting BLObPUS by then for the most part.
I could be wrong, but I think all of the sculpted customs (besides the Bufagins) were by AKO ART, and Hanawa just did the 2D stuff on the walls. I don't remember seeing any Hanawa customs at the show.
Figured they look way too D&D and Ghostbusters to have been Hanawa customs. Thanks for the confirmation. Was wondering if Hanawa had sustained a major head injury or something. I'm not impressed with the Bufagin but its not even in the same universe of awfulness as the other customs. The Deadstockers and minis just look like painted Sushi to me. Guess the Blob x RxH (Goto san LB) stuff was my last BLObPUS purchase and the only reason I bought those was due to Mori san's involvement. BLObPUS has jumped the shark.
People sure are quick to cut and hack these days. The minis (all the customs, actually) look outstanding in person. As always with the best painters (Kaji-san painted these customs), the quality is impossible to capture with flat photos (though we certainly do our best). The mushed minis look like twisted kaiju dwarves. Much more interesting than the majority of sofubi releases over the last 12 months.
Sycophant. Kidding (about the sycophant thing) but seriously these look like D&D figures, Ghostbuster toys, and a vinyl monstrosity exposed to a flamethrower and painted up. Minis just look like Sushi with a fish head. After the earlier Hanawa x Blobpus custom lottery debacle this is kind of silly. I don't mind if "Gino" buys everything this time, in fact he's welcome to them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/toyartgall ... 707241393/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/toyartgallery/4110509756/ That is why I don't buy BLObPUS unless its a very special occasion.
I got my Blobpus/ Real x Head 5th Anniversary in the mail yesterday. It looks like a decroded piece of crap. The paint job is terrible. Somebody at the factory just smeared some paint in a few spots and called it good. I got it because it was glitter vinyl but, god the paint ruins it! Should be just plain glitter... Perfect for stripping... It's a flaming pile of shit!
Goto san painted those. If its the standard Blob it may have been Mori san's paint scheme as executed by Goto san. If Mori san designed the standard Blob as a rub, Goto san likely did a rub.
This is not the mushroom soup man or any of the special "only 10 made" ones... I dunno but I just hope the new animal Blobpus custom that I ordered doesn't show up looking like that! Ahh I'm sure it won't, that one looks pretty nice! This literally has paint smeared on it very quickly with a brush... Whatever. Decroded piece of dollar store crap.
Then its a standard Blob with a rub paint basically. A spray is unlikely to look like an RxH paint rub design so the Animal Blob will look as pictured. The RxH Blob probably looked as pictured too.
Thanks krudler, I'd somehow already forgotten about the RxH involvement. Rubs just aren't for everyone, but it's really best when they're as consistent as possible. We've seen a couple rubbed figs that really weren't done as well as they could have been unfortunately.
