Anyone watching Bob's Burgers? It definitely one of the best cartoons I've seen in awhile! Tonight's episode, Uncle Teddy was so good! The scene when the burger forum members all met up was so on the nose!
^^You'll have to be sure to watch tonight's episode, Uncle Teddy, when it comes available. This season has had some good ones, "The Frond Files" a couple weeks ago was another good one! Well Louise and Tina's stories at least. I'm not a big Gene fan Tina groan compilation!
yep, my wife loves this show. we really love Archer too and how they did the transition from Bobs charc to Archer.
EASILY the best cartoon or comedy show on television right now. Working my way through the second season on Netflix. It is much funnier and off the beaten track as compared to Seth Macfarlane stuff, which I stopped watching quite some time ago (constant pop culture references are neither intelligent nor funny). All the BB characters are lovable to boot. P.S. Let's take a brave band of SB'ers to colonize a "Fart Island".
I love Bob's Burgers. It is by far some of the best animated comedy out there, not that there is a whole lot to compete with it.
Totally agree, I stopped with Seth Macfarlane stuff quite awhile ago too, it became so formulaic and it kinda bugs the shit outta me now. Bob's has some really nice animation too, that's done in the states (I believe.. I think they may have shipped out one season..) which is a nice change from all the outsourced animation we usually see! That Archer intro was great! I hadn't seen that HA! This is the clip I was talking about from last night! (not trying to stir any pots, just thought this was hilarious)
H. Jon Benjamin s a genius. Granted he does not do a lot of the writing, but his voice acting is superb. Between this and Archer what is not to like. Plus his work on Home Movies was pretty much the only reason to watch the show.
That blog is awesome! Thanks for making me aware of it Here's the link for anyone who doesn't want to Google it. http://behindbobsburgers.com @blooddrinker
I'll respectfully disagree and will always look at this show as an unworthy replacement for The Cleveland Show Not knocking H. Jon Benjamin's voice-over talent at all (I do like Archer), but to deny Seth Macfarlane or Mike Henry the same recognition would be unjust. I tried to give it a chance, but Bob's Burgers does nothing for me. After rewatching all the seasons of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show on Netflix recently, I will admit to being more than a little biased. Different strokes I guess...
I'm afraid I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you also. VO actors aside, I just find the writing for Seth Macfarlane's shows to be so dependent on pop culture references and running gags that I just have zero interest. Definitely different strokes, and I haven't honestly watched family guy since maybe the third season and the occasional episode to see if it's changed, and I never had any interest in the Cleveland show, but I find Bob's Burgers writing to be much more enjoyable and the jokes to be actually driven by the characters own personalities. Not to mention I really hope Bob's has continued success since it's actually animated in the states as opposed to Korea. I'm kinda biased towards cartoons animated in the states as it means more potential work for me.
I actually really liked the Cleveland Show, it was a little quirkier and less obnoxious than Family Guy. Peter Griffin is such an obnoxious character though, it's like watching some stupid frat boy taking advantage of everyone. And American Dad is totally unwatchable to me personally. I am very glad Bob's Burgers is enjoying some success and hope we get at least 2 or 3 more seasons.
...in my opinion Bob's Burgers is one of the best cartoons in recent memory: * family values = tick * damn good attitude to sex = tick * weird = tick * has heart = tick * solid characters = tick * feminist attitudes = tick Hell, it even reminds me - attitude wise - of the early Simpsons. ...what else could you want?
Absolutely love this show. I'm not going to lie though, it was definitely an acquired taste for me... It took more than two episodes before I realized how much I was enjoying myself. Now I got my whole family hooked. The best part about the show is how most of the hilarity comes directly from character interactions and mundane-situations-turned-ridiculous. It feels natural rather than forced, and oddly believable. I think that's really refreshing after years of watching Family Guy.
It's funny, I didn't expect there to be such a Bob's vs Family Guy (etc) divide. I absolutely agree that they do a great job making this a character driven show! This last episode I think could have used some punched up writing though.. They put so much work into the look of the episode, designing the train and everything I think the writing was just not quite there. Not that I have any real suggestions about that.. Just my opinion. I did think the spit bucket thing was funny though! "Hmm it's very viscous"
Yeah me either. I love Bob's I hate Family Guy, but I don't equate one to another. I don't even think about it, there's TONS of animated shows for adult target audiences, why those 2? I loved Dr. Katz, Home Movies, Lucy Daughter of the Devil, and of course Bob's Burgers. I think it's awesome Lauren B. is finally getting some due in a mainstream way. I've had to STOP the show because I was laughing so I hard I didn't want to miss the next scene.
