I've got sone questions about ordering via World Shopping for items from Hakaba Gallery. I took a chance and went in for the Large GID Ragon that was recently for sale on pre order. Does anybody have any knowledge on how these pre orders work? I paid for the initial purchase and shipping to World Shopping's facility (i am assuming), and am expecting another request for shipping to the states once the items get delivered. But am worrying that I have not gotten any follow up emails regarding this order. Can anyone chime in on any similar experiences? Thanks in advance.

I have order through Hakaba with World Shopping. Have never had an issue. The Bullmark Giant Ragon is not due for release until July. So you should not hear from them until then. But if you have concerns then you can contact them through this form:

Buyee is offering some wild shipping "coupons" lately. A month or two ago, it was for free shipping over a certain amount (I'm forgetting what that amount was). This month it's for 70% off any YJA/puchase over ¥20k.

This, of course, forces them to open and toss out/consolidate boxes without requesting it, minimizing their loss. Cool. Not cool: They tossed a vintage Bullmark standard wrapped in a white plastic bag into the box (similar to the bundle @blakewest received over in the "What you just got in the mail" thread), along with a stack of books (in the usual green envelopes)—because I didn't anticipate having to tack on "additional protective packaging".

    I think. I'm building a narrative.

I've stuck with using FromJapan over Buyee the last few months. Except for that one poorly packed box, my other packages have been well padded between items, and there's no additional fee for that. They just consolidate automatically.

Did I tell this story in this thread already? I am too lazy to scroll up. I love FromJapan's service and always appreciated their auto-consolidation and shipping ethic. They banned me from bidding, though, because I was two days late trying to make up for an expired payment method. Apparently they tossed the item out (or resold it somewhere), and refused to respond to multiple requests to make it right with them. They still let me purchase stuff through heir vendor system, surprisingly.

Lesson: don't screw up YJA stuff with FJ. Which is understandable.

Got a few boxes in the mail recently and finally remembered to take a picture of the Zenmarket packaging which might help inform someone's decisions.

Missed a shot of before I cut open the box, but as soon as I saw the interior I remembered to start taking pictures.

    Directly after opening:

    Pulling of the air bubble:

Pulled the trike out of the shipping box. It's individually bubble wrapped:

Pulling the right side out of the box, which were 2 Max Toy Ultramen. Both were still carded / bagged and individually wrapped in another plastic bag with a peel and strip seal (forgot to grab a picture here):

    Unboxed spoils:

Everything I've ordered from them has been packaged like this which I appreciate. I chose DHL shipping which as far as I know does not affect how they package in any way, just the carrier / speed of shipping.

Had a purchase made through buyee that included a box i didn't want damaged. I went ahead and added protective packaging, thinking i'd still have a couple of days to use the shipping coupons that were active recently. it took them just over a week to finalize my request. needless to say, I missed out on the discounted shipping. :x

So I just got a package sent EMS from buyee. 3 Secretbase fighters and a marusan micro jet jaguar… buyee shipped them in what was just a reenforced paper bag. Fortunately everything was fine, almost everything was wrapped in bubble wrap. But I think it all arriving unharmed was more about the usps handling it carefully than it being packed well.

So with Buyee shipping, it isn’t their packaging. It’s whoever you bought it from on YJA and Buyee just receives it and ships it out to you, unless you pay the fee to have them remove everything and repack it themselves. I’ve personally never opted for that ‘cause I don’t think of it, but I’ve definitely had sellers ship some very questionably bad packages.

So you think the YJA seller originally sent it to Buyee wrapped in bubble wrap inside an envelope? I've never encountered that after years of ordering sofubi through them.

I’ve had tons of yja packages shipped to buyee like that. Very commonplace in Japan.

In my experience, Buyee has started to do this with shipments lately. I just received a Bullmark figure loosely wrapped in paper (presumably by the seller), rolling around nside of the shipping box. Everything else from that shipment was repacked into sealed green envelopes. I didn't request any type of repacking or additional protective packaging.

I’ve also had handfuls of toys shipped in envelopes, with the toys wrapped in bubble wrap. Presumably cheaper than a box. Some of them were even bigger, older Bounty Hunter toys and a couple vintage Miura Toy figures. I’ve even had toys shipped to Buyee in a shopping bag wrapped in tape.

I'm really stunned, I've never gotten a package like that from a Japanese seller. If anything there's too much packaging, like a Bullmark mini in the equivalent of a Priority Mail Large box. Sorry you all have had to deal with such shit sellers.

Just completed my first experience with FromJapan and I am very pleased. I got some great deals!

Paid shipping on Tuesday evening, package was in Fedex hands on Thurs and arrived at my house today! Each item purchased had a 300 yen fee totaling 4500 yen in fees. I paid shipping on YJA wins but I believe all Mercari and Rakutan items were free shipping to FromJapan. When choosing from the international shipping options, all were only a few dollars difference so I went with the fastest/most expensive which was about $70, which I thought was pretty good for such a big box and basically 24 hour delivery! My final payment for domestic shipping, FJ fees, and my intl shipping choice was $121 added on to what I spent for each item.

So they charge you per item you buy initially, then settle up on shipping and fees when you choose to ship. So I paid an average of $8 for each item/purchase for shipping/fees which I think was super reasonable. I think I won the Gargamel Pinwheel for $7 on yja :shock:8)

Hard to tell but they basically shrink wrapped the bundle together onto a carboard/box base which was then affixed to the bottom of the box (glue?) so there was no extra bubble wrap or packing, but the items could not move during transit. Each item was individually packaged from the seller with an added FJ order label, with the exception of the carded mecha terror which just had the sticker on the shell. Overall everything came undamaged and I felt like I got some really good deals. Sometimes with Buyee I would feel like the fees/shipping negated any good deals.

    FromJapan > Buyee

However, there was a recent auction I could not bid on because FromJapan said the seller would not deal with broker services. As an experiment, I tried bidding though Buyee and was successful. So right now I'm building up a Buyee box again, but I plan to go back to FromJapan.

Thanks for that info, I ran into that several times but figured it was the same deal with buyee. Good to know!

Not sure if FromJapan has an option for it, but when I've encountered this on ZenMarket I just submit a request to unblock the seller. Every time but once they've allowed me to go ahead and bid afterwards.

ZenMarket literally cardboarded my headers for my order, a piece on each side, taped together. Super pleased with their warehouse guys. Came double boxed with corner supports so it wouldn't crush... Buyee has been good too, although I prefer the Fedex to DHL shipping.

I just got a package from Buyee, a vintage Popy kaiju in two layers of bubble wrap and thrown in a paper envelope. This is ridiculous.
