This was my first DCon and it was a blast. I had so much fun hanging out, meeting peeps, working, picking up awesomeness and seeing so much that I never thought I'd get to see. Lots of SB'ers I got to shake hands with between lottery groups, the booth and just general walking around was really cool. Got to meet a lot of artists who were super down go earth, humble and had no problems with hangin' with fans of their work and just shootin' the shit.

I had a great time. I muled over 40 items for boardies here and on that other place, which made it worth my time to go to both days. entered the lotteries, and got a few PK and MVH items for SB people who asked for my help (really exciting, even if I wasn't personally getting anything). Lots of people there with 6-8 tickets in hand, you know who you are (I don't know who you are). Lotteries are waaaayyy unfair, but whatever.

I got to meet a few boardies, made a small deal with one, got to wrestle with pornstar Annie Cruz, and had a great time.

Mostly picked up a bunch of small resin bootleg toys, rifled through the cheapie bins and found some old platform toys, and picked up a still sealed unpainted pink Hollis from the S7 table. Not very exciting for most, but it made the con for me.

doomsDAY, you have excellent taste in toys(all 3 are amazing). I want to eat that delicious chocolaty Boss! There are not enough brown toys out there.

We had an awesome time hanging out with friends and meeting a few new ones. Jeff and Megan were awesome in their Salaryman-der Joe and Mockbat masks. If you didn't see them, I am sure they will be worn at future shows. We need to make a 2 person Krawluss costume next just for Rich.

Here is what Megan and I got on Saturday. Sunday was great too, I got a Jinxman and orange Sam head. Maybe I'll post pics later.

This was the worst part of an otherwise great DCON. It was incredible how many people blatantly held 5+ tickets and then passed them off to a friend when they won. I hope this issue is solved in the future - perhaps using wristbands or something like that.

I agree with you both. Those offenders didn't even give a shit, either. Wristbands are a good idea OR marking peoples hands with their ticket number. One ticket per person, and the marked hand is checked when the number is called.

I'm curious on how that would prevent them from buying the item and handing it over to the person they would have given the ticket to in the first place though.

Could this have been brought to the attention of the artists / group holding the lottery? Disqualify them somehow for having too many tickets? ( of course the offenders could just hide their tickets??)

It definitely wouldn't prevent this, but I don't think that's the biggest problem because it forces those people to actually show up and be there for the lotto. The individuals with 5-10 tickets clearly had friends/fam/random people they flagged down grab tickets then just hand them over and leave. It takes minimal effort to stack the deck that way. The best part is that all the members who benefited from this will be conspicuously quiet.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the brainers who came out for PK X MVH booth!

Such a good time, and great people who appreciate our craft and understand what we go through, to get out what we can.

You know who you are. :)

Aside from this task of eliminating the current and latest multiple ticket passing and collecting phenomena known as "Bacon stripping", I will look into retinal scans, rectal probes, containment capsules, hunter killer drones, freeze rays, and dissolving microchips for future "raffle to buy" events and to prevent future potential "Butt Hurt" selloffs. Because we all have so much time to worry about that rather than making stuff.

And if you want to complain to me about sending your non-collector sister, her getting in a pissy huff, and bailing while numbers were being called because there WERE rules, and you not getting anything...
Hope you come next time! ;)

^Awesome fleshy haul, good to see you again too!

I thought you said this was standard procedure for when your number was called. Was nobody else probed?

Wristbands are a good idea. Also, the pushead method of having a "bouncer" could help

Saturday was my first Dcon event and the best part about it for me was actually talking to Paul, Carl,Scott, Rich, Josh and meeting Nate and Maddie whose collection and photos I've often admired. All super nice people and I probably should have bought them all beers for their help throughout the years.

Being in the back I did see quite a few with multiple tickets which is really too bad. There was this one guy with a batman mask who won and before he went up he tossed several tickets back to his friend which incidentally landed on the ground.

I don't know I'm sort of a firm believer in karma and would rather lose every lotto with dignity than trying to pull something on other fans and the artists who put in countless hours of time and energy.

It was nice seeing everyone this year at D-Con as usual. 2 days was pretty draining and he only thing to bring me back on Sunday was the PK x MVH booth. I only picked up 2 toys, which were the ones i wanted. The Mockbat on Saturday and the Pilot on Sunday. I only took one raffle ticket per lottery and patiently waited and hoped for my number to be called. Even when people offered me their extra tickets or even a winning ticket, i declined. I didn't want to be apart of that. I simply wanted to win one of Paul's toys based on merit and by following the rules.

If i didn't win a figure, it's all good, it was just nice seeing everyone and joining in on all the fun and having a chance of being a part of that experience.

So cheers to PK and Rich for having probably one of the best and most busiest booths at the convention!

All I can say is that I had a great time meeting new brainers and making new friends.
Both days were nothing but fun, having PK and MVH both days in the same booth was insane.
I'm pretty sure all at least score one of their favorite artist’s toy.
Looking forward for next year already!

Thanks! Great to see you too... I'm after that oj sam head ;)

Yes le merde had a table of random parts and you could make your own figure + extra head + glow weapons for $40. It was awesome, I was faded as hell and standing alone at his booth for half an hour mixing and matching parts. I'm sure he thought i was weird.

Quite a few first time items for me in this haul. First MVH, Refreshment, PopSoda, and Toys Are Sanity scores. Some seriously fun shelf re-arranging is coming :D

DCon was great and I pretty much forgot that I had Grodys in my bag to sell. It would be awesome if all the other companies we love switched from doing Comic Con to DCon. The only time it was too crowded to move was when raffles were being held. Outside of that, you don't feel like you're in a can of sardines (or smell like a can of sardines).

If anyone wants any of the Grodys I painted, just pm me. They're $40 each plus shipping and the Nug is $50 plus shipping.
