The whole acoustic set on Halloween reminds of last years (?) tour when he had "Come to Silver" on the set list, with an acoustic guitar near by, but it was never played. Here's a recording from that acoustic set on Halloween 1991 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NAOdeq0aE4
that article we talked about earlier talked about him touring. He loves doing live shows. He hates the road. Something about sitting around all day waiting to play is not fun anymore. It "prevents him from doing the things he likes to do". Which is what... puttering around a dark house all day? . He played 3FunFest in Austin last summer. <---starting to be a big event. video evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW7qou_HOP0 This year we get S.T.! Join the Army!
On a semi related note, I saw some pre-order of a new Gorgeous Frankenstein DVD. I had completely forgotten about their existence and went back earing some more. Then I remembered why I forgot about them in the first place ..
- Running with wolves in a field - Bench pressing wolves - Playing with his cats - Brooding - Looking at his book collection - Looking into the distance while wind blows his hair snraling - Eating cake without dumping it on himself due to potholes - Getting interviewed about the Misfits then telling the interviewer "fuck off" I can probably go on. Despite how much I poke fun at him, I still love ol' Gleny D. I laugh because I love. Typical internet generation. He's part of the older "hiding your bald spot with your long hair" generation we just don't understand I suppose.
Yeah, their new album sucked hard. I think the worse part of the band is Gorgeous George. However, they do have a new singer (vocalist from Cancerslug) and bass player now, and their new material sounds great! Check out new live material here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Kissroomservice
too funny blood. What is the cake and pothole reference? I almost bought the new album last night. they had 1 and 3 in the discount bin... But he was in good company. Priest and Bob Seger.
Oh there's some awesome pic of him backstage with a huge slice of cake and his muscle gut sticking out. I just figured on the road he'd spill it. I got the new one free from the shop I work at. I wouldn't of paid for it at first, but after a few listens I think I would have. I think the American records ones are cheap from the distro's. We get people asking for the 1st all the time. I think I have the boxed version of 3 with the textured cover art and different CD try booklet somewhere. On the note of the naked ladies in the pics of 6-Circle, my wife says it's him trying too hard. She thinks he's asexual and only lusts for himself but he's gotta try to look all tough and manly so he hires some "beards" to flaunt around.
Taken from Alex's flickr.... Calllll meee the cake hunter! yeah thats my name. yummy little thing like you is my only game. Dont need the sticky bun. Dont need whats missing. When I get a hold of you honey. Eat you up like christmassss... II: "Whoa! Got a new cake out of New Orleans, Man, that icings nice! Gonna eat some chocolate and some Pumkin Pie, Need a bigger Sli-hice! Do you want to take a slice? Do you want cross that line? Cause it's all cake I eat in hell, and you don't wanna eat with.... ME!"
Now that I look at it again it looks like he's cutting it and handing it out. What a nice dude. He also seems to be eyeballing the fruit basket. Maybe I was wrong!?
No, he's eyeing the tea set and seething with rage. "Lemon fucking Zinger! WTF! The rider was perfectly clear, Earl Grey. Right there, in black and white. Earl Grey. It's not that hard. I mean......wait a minute! Where is my damned Sweet and Low?!"
GTFO he is eyeing the bigger piece! You should complain about the music and not the naked girls. Someone might get the wrong idea. In NY he had stripper/dancers in the VIP area dressed up like nuns. Well nun hats... They had electrical tape shaped like crosses over their nipples. The only other band I have seen with a stripper entourage was Mo:tley Cru:e and theirs dressed up like nurses. Dr. Feelgood with drum riser in the sky over the audience...
He did a signing at the store I work at years back. I wasn't there but according to the staff that were his rider list included KFC (I assume for the band) and Snapple but a specific flavor. BUT that Snapple was no where to be found, I guess it was something to do with it being West Coast only. Anyway, after he sent the staff out 3 times he finally just accepted some other flavor that was around the area. Snapple. The music is complaint worthy too but the design on those albums are the worst! I can stomach 5 (I know!) because I think to myself "If there wasn't all this fake industrial BS it'd be and OK album! The songs aren't bad structure wise, it's the shit production!" but 6-7 are like the worst things ever. Circle, again, I can deal with a few tracks. He oughta just do something like an accoustic album. He's written for Cash and Orbison, screw it, it'd totally work! In the end he needs to drastically change something to be interesting again. Though I like the new one, I feel in the end it's just so-so. He's gotta strip it all down and just be Danzig again.
He looks like he's going to clasp the knife with both hands, raise it high over his head, and plunge it deep within the heart of the cake with great ferocity. Seriously, I finally saw him in '90, and I must admit that his stage presence cannot be denied.
I get asked about the photo a lot. my answer is: no comment (the grasshut guys know alllllll about it.)
I never get tired of this one. Me & Danzig at the S7 booth. I kind of wish I'd worn something a little more bad-ass.
Missy, Danzig was very nice that day. He took several pics with fans at the S7 booth. He also signed and did a sketch in my copy of S7 magazine featuring the Danzig article. He also asked for a discount when buying his 2 (yes, 2) different Steven the Bats.
I remember he was super friendly. I also remember you told a funny story about someone taunting him to punch a pumpkin at a show...which he did. ha
Yes, that was at an acoustic Halloween set sometime in 1990/91. Me and two friends were upfront at a small club in Hollywood. There were several pumpkins about the stage... At the end of the set, as Danzig exited the stage, drunkenly my friend picked up a pumpkin and shouted "Danzig, Punch it!" which Danzig then did and we all laughed and smiled. Missy, was that the same story?
I would like to see pictures of his updated toy collection! I wonder how much S7 he as... Anyone from S7 care to chime in on if he placed any web-orders?
