That Sludge Kraken is beautiful. Nice job!
thank you! very scary painting that piece lol
Dude it's really nice to see you post more of these, it's been too long!
i had a very tough end of last year mentally and wasnt sure about how i felt towards painting/art in general. but i decided to post these pieces that i hadnt posted on here. thanks for checking it out doug
I hear you... I've been trying to get over the art slump as well, and even have decided not to do a convention I was planning on attending because I feel I don't have enough prepared that I'm happy with haha.
i feel ya! im literally just riding this out til inspiration hits me lol
i'll post a pic in the morning, since the lighting in this apartment is horrid
That is my absolute favorite paint "style" by far. Especially when people go nuts with the eyes and give the teeth and claws attention while leaving a good amount of the base vinyl showing through most of the figure.with just soft sprays. Keep up the good work!
thank you! my favorite recent example is the black moon zug by rich. black vinyl, a wide metallic blue spray down the center and limbs, but the teeth and claws are so well done! the eyes would for sure be painted amazingly as well but he went with glass instead lol
Don't worry man, 2016 was rough for a lot of us. Your custom paint jobs are some of the nicest I've seen here on SB lately though, so try your best to fight that slump and get back to it! This is a skill that some people have and some people don't... and I've seen WAY too many people on IG who don't that keep going when they really shouldn't.
painted this green/glow/glitter marbled cadaver kid by Splurrt
I feel like the paint might be too opaque for being over such an involved vinyl pour. Maybe it's just the photos, but doesn't it mask a lot of the glow & glitter?
EDIT: I just scrolled up and saw the glow shot from last night.
On the positive side, if I didn't know better I might have guessed that Joe painted this himself!
thank you! i need to have someone take better pictures of it because i used a flourescent pink on the hands and feet so that the gold glitter was still visible!
the red on the stitching and the black on the eyes are the only colors on it that masks the vinyl under it. i really wanted to highlight the glow parts of this specific pour so that the eyes and mouth were the only parts that didnt glow
This is such a killer Kid, Manny. Minimal approach was a great idea for leaving some of the base marble to aesthetically breathe. The eyes and teeth are painted super intricately, which I can appreciate. I also really like the occasional blood slipping out of the stitches.
full frontal, thanks for looking guys
lol! thank you for the encouraging words. my only real goal is to eventually be able to do a good looking micro run and contribute something to the hobby!
This is probably one of the best independently painted Cadaver Kids I've seen, dude. And by independent, I mean an indie artist outside of the "mainstream" recognized names. I hope that doesn't come off as offensive. I'm not quite sure how else to word it!
i havent seen too many kids with oozing sutures so i really wanted to do that. overally this one and the other one im working on are the most fun figures ive been able to paint!
custom purple/glow/glitter cadaver kid
NICE Manny! Keep em coming!
full front and glow shot of front/back
Is that one of the purple/glow/gold ones?
yep. i left the white gid and the heavy glitter areas virtually untouched. the face was pretty dark already hence the full coverage, that and im a big fan of the '98 Man in the Iron Mask film
Hahaha that last guy's paint job is extra good!
