sorry if its tacky to post yer own toys!!!
I don’t think it’s tacky in the slightest. Majority of the American Idols threads are artists introducing their new characters and toys, and I personally think this one should be in that section, since this isn’t a custom. It’s Dark Matter Toys’ first soft vinyl entry. I fuckin’ love this thing. I’m a big fan of duality in just about anything, and the grotesque nature of the face against the traditionally smooth body looks so great in contrast. The rooted hair is done well, and I’m glad it serves a purpose. The size sounds great, and I look forward to seein’ on in hand for my own, physical judgement!
he is fugly!
He’s pretty fuggin’ kewt.
it's tacky when it's someone who's new to the board and doesn't contribute to anything other than their own thread.
carry on ugly baby, carry on.
You do you baby boy
Ain't nothin ugly when it's coming from you babyboi
Love this twist on the Kewpie doll, and that hair is crazy
just received a box yesterday of my newest vinyl venture, Goburin. my effort to make an evil but lovable fantasy goblin (as opposed to real life goblins). 6in tall and 3.5in shoulder to shoulder. Goburin features three points of articulation, one goblin hand and one dragon bone jaw blade weapon. Goburin was sculpted over the course of two days in an attempt to keep his feel crude. which i feel is almost polarizing to todays designer toy collectors. he is my statement against hyper-detailed mcfarlane-esque digital 20in vinyl toys.
header art for general releases
Manny dropped the official first paint for a 10 piece mini run.
I can’t explain how happy I am to see new sofubi that isn’t textured to hell and back. I like him, he looks cheeky. Good size too, don’t get me wrong... I do like big toys, but sometimes there’s just no reason for them to be so huge. This guy’s got a good fits-in-your-hand quality.
thank you! and i agree, i love textures i love chunky toys...but i also like taking stuff outside or being able to own more than just one of a sculpt. i also admire brands like butanohana that are so "crude" but so perfect with his texture and painting
Goburin is an absolute little king, and it's amazing to see the sculpt translated into vinyl after watching him come together. Thought long and hard about the first release yesterday, but after replacing my PC I couldn't swing it. I hope we see more classic colours on him in the future. Hats off!
I’m pretty excited to get this one in hand. It’s very readable and crude, but not to the point of being off putting. It’s like a pachi fight figure in its silhouette, but very well stands as its own character. The red vinyl base is equally as classic as the first paint app.
aaron @uh oh was such a big part of my projects coming to life. and because of this i asked him to paint a few pieces to release right after the debut edition.
Hope you’re getting photo records of each release started already! I have a feeling this figure’s gonna provide for a lot of pleasing visuals!
absolutely! in 30 releases ill put out a bemon-style poster lol
Aye! Not a bad idea! Though, in true Bemon fashion, he hijacked the poster vibe from Bullmark. Either way, that’d be fun as hell to do and release!
Received my Goburin yesterday, and got photos done just about 10 minutes ago! This is definitely a fun one. If there was ever a pachi Goblin toy to be made, this is it. There’s a simplicity in its crudeness, but it’s also very readable! It’s got a great fight figure silhouette, but standing in its own class. What’s described as a “dragon’s jawbone” for the left hand is something rather original, along with the broken horn, and gives a little bit of a backstory for where it came from. The shared detail of the hair on the chest and head, coinciding with the waist garb, makes it all look like it’s grown everywhere the same! The classic blue/silver/black pint app is sprayed very well, and tight knit, and goes along with the red base very nicely! I think this toy really goes off of Manny’s capability as an artist, tattooing and on paper, and plays very well to his stronghold.
