Awesome stuff, but I wonder how much variation there really is in all those duplicates, or if it is a numbers thing. I mean, there will always be some slight paint variations, but I am curious how much is clear intentional changes.
I am not 100% but I think this is part of Take-shit's collection - http://www.greedxxx.com/shout/0904/090406.html I have been to his house and have seen his collection in person. He has dozens of duplicates of some figures and that's the way he likes it...
I recently scored three vintage devilmans. The blue mini, the green takatoku and the bandai one but totally stripped of accesories. I don't think I would own one otherwise. Here's photo of my collection (except for two devilman)
Oh wow, GREAT collection Aldo. So you're just missing the light blue mid size now? You could get a uni-five rider villain and steal his boots for the Bandai (if you care about that sorta thing).
That's a nice tip Jon, but I actually don't care too much, unless I find them without looking for them. The devilman I'd really like to own is the mini dogface... is that the one you mean? There's also another bootleg that I love:
The mini dogface is probably the hardest vintage Devilman toy to find. I've been searching and have only seen it come up once on YJA in years (I check every day). I kick myself all the time for not bidding because it went for only around 10000 yen. Nice collection there Aldo, that's a good mix of toys.
Thanks Chris! Yes, I know how hard to find is that mini dogface... but one can dream... (I know you do! )
No I meant this one, I totally forgot about the mini dogface and that larger bootleg. I have the non-removable mask version of that one on the way.
And I forgot about this one! It's a never ending game anyways. Anyone else has a group shot of their devilmans?
I saw this devilman sell for ¥ 15,000 (green and brown Dinosaurs) and another with a diferente header (purple monsters) for ¥ 26,000, why the difference? Thank you and best regards!
Yep, the paint is a variant on that one (blue chest). As for the backer and header, I am not 100% sure, but it could just be reversed in the second one, i.e. the same artwork is on opposing sides as packaged. Prices can also fluctuate a ton on vintage stuff depending on who happens to see it or be bidding - in addition to all the condition issues. One week a figure might go unnoticed and sell for 3000yen (just ask Lixx! ) and the next week or so another might be listed and be getting bids at close to 10k. It pays to be vigilant and patient when shopping for a vintage figure.
You can say it's the same manufacturer, but different art work on header or are two different manufacturers with the same mold? Thank you Ultrakaiju for all the information!
