Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kids: 1/31/12 ^^ I'm pretty sure he's talking about the blanks (green/black) that show up on yja. Not too surprising considering it's most likely a 'brainer who is selling them.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kids: 1/31/12 i was surprised to even see one on ebay. what the hell crappy ebay seller guy, people wanted those.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kids: 1/31/12 Ah. Now I understand. I know that the person that sold the one of mine on eBay is a long-time Skullbrain member. Awesome.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kids: 1/31/12 Yeah no kidding. When I saw that one of these was listed for sale my jaw hit the floor. Outside of the obvious motivation of flipping for a profit, why the hell would you snake these away from fans who really wanted one, especially since so few were available. To at least make up for it, the decent thing would be to put it on here in the BST at least.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 Nope, not another run. Just one that I started a while ago and finished up this morning. Glad you like it.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 I really like how the yellow pops from the monotone, and Sepia. It makes the toy feel as if different parts of it are in separate worlds, held together with yellow clips. For some reason it reminds me of that movie Pleasantville.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 Thanks, dudes! I just put it up in my bigcartel shop.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 It's nice to know he'll be with all his brothers. Thanks, man.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 Whatever... It's too sloppy for me to get sore about it.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 I will save any criticism on the artistic side, and don't want to make this anything personal. It's just such a shame though. Why not use a blank for customs, and come up with some other idea? I would have loved to be able to get of these, and now there is one less. [extra sad face]
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 Okay, my mistake. I falsely assumed because the 'homage' was painted in the same scheme as Dustin's it was off one of those. I admit the error.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 3/25/12 Dustin, you have a dry brush technique that is mastered and not easily copied. Your CK is still 1 I wish I had gotten.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 5/4/12 Finished this guy this morning. Took a while to figure out what to do with the marbled vinyl. Finally decided that the best approach would be to leave plenty of it showing and use the seams to not only separate the colors but the painted and unpainted parts as well. Unpainted marbled vinyl can be pretty hit or miss for me but I do think it can look pretty rad when all the details are painted in.
Re: Dustin's Ultra-Thread: Cadaver Kid: 5/4/12 The blue rub adds such a nice texture to it. Add to that the silver stitching and the white eyes... this guy really pops. I like how you kept the original marbling, but added just enough to really make it your own.
