Overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I'd like to comment on from the past couple of pages...

Here are 3 of 5 DMX Krew tracks released out of Detroit a billion years ago:

    From the A side ----

    From the B side ---

By a billion year ago, I mean 2002.

    12" EP

    A1: SOUL MINER
    A2: 1-2-3
    B1: TOUCH ME!
    B2: THE WHITE HOTEL

Written & Produced by Ed DMX.

    www.dmxkrew.dircon.co.uk

    RELEASE DATE: OCT. 29, 2002 (EZ-022)
DMX Krew is a guy called Ed DMX from London. Ersatz Audio and Ed DMX have been working together for many years now. Ed DMX did a Le CAR remix for (EZ-012) Le CAR: Remixed in 2000, and Ersatz Audio's ADULT. did a remix for K-Rock on Ed DMX's label Breakin' Records around the same time. Since around 1997, various Ersatz Audio artists and various Ed DMX pseudonyms have appeared on countless third party compilations together, including the new Ghostly International compilation "Disco Nouveau". A new DMX Krew track "Touch Me!" appeared on the recent Ersatz Audio compilation "Misery Loves Company", but only on the CD version of the compilation... until now!

DMX Krew's new 12" on Ersatz Audio finally features the highly sought-after "Touch Me!" on vinyl from the "Misery Loves Company" CD, as well as 4 other brand new striking songs. DMX Krew describes his music ideology as "never following trends, but forging his own musical direction." That makes for a match made in heaven between DMX Krew and Ersatz Audio.

DMX Krew is a veteran and global tone-setter with 4 albums under his belt on Rephlex Records, and numerous singles on labels including International DJ Gigolo, Pharma, Breakin' Records, and Chicks On Speed's Go Records. He has also done many remixes including G.D. Luxxe, Cylob, Biochip C, Gentle People, and Beanfield, among others. Ed DMX records under various pseudonyms, including Computor Rockers, EDMX, and of course DMX Krew.

This 5 song 12" showcases DMX Krew's stunning arrangements, with his attention to detail, his singable melodies, and his infectious rhythms. Packaged in an Ersatz rebus-designed hand-stamped jacket.

"A superb five-tracker of unashamed electropop." -Jockey Slut

Another fun project from the Ersatz Audio folks:

ADULT. - "Don't You Stop: original mix"

SOLVENT vs. ADULT. - "Don't You Stop: toy chop mix"

PHOENECIA vs. SOLVENT - "Don't You Stop: trickmommy transplant"

ALDER & ELIUS vs. PHOENECIA - "Don't You Stop: get outta dodge mix"

FEB. 19, 2002 (EZ-016) - A new 12" that comes with a concept based on a popular children's game that has many different names depending on your region. "The Telephone Game", " The Telephone Operator", "Chinese Whispers", it doesn't matter what name you had for the game as a kid, the concept is the same. A group of children sit in a circle. A child whispers a sentence to the individual sitting next to them, and this sentence is repeatedly whispered around the circle until the last child hears the sentence. At which time, the last and first children say their sentence out loud, and inevitably, the sentence has changed dramatically from the original.

ADULT. has adapted this idea for this release. A new ADULT. track entitled "Don't You Stop" has been remixed by Solvent (Suction Records). Solvent's remix was then given to Phoenecia (Schematic Record Co.) for them to remix, without letting Phoenecia hear the original ADULT. song. Alder & Elius (Skam) finish off the release with the same rules intact. The end product is a cohesive 12" with what really sounds like 4 unique songs with a common thread. Re: interpreting the Re: mix process. Packaged in hand screened jackets, with either black, grey, blue, red, or green ink.

I've enjoyed Eric Chamberlain's music for a couple decades now. He was the main songwriter in COP International's INDEX back in the 90's. Over the past ten years or so he has been doing a variety of projects in the electro-industrial and ambient veins. He has had projects including Skylash, Coconaut, & Telepherique.

Nice stuff mate, i hadn't heard those. The earliest DMX Krew i have is 'Cold Rockin' with the Krew' from 1996. I think it was released before his first album. He's one of those artists who records under many names and formats, so its difficult to keep up!

I bought 'Cashier Escape Route: A City Centre Offices Compilation' in 2000 and still listen to it occasionally. Very cool electronica.

Another all time favourite . . . Amon Tobin

    Disko B (Dakar & Grinser)

Haven't been in touch with dubstep for awhile but I know producers and DJs are swinging towards techno hybrids.

    RIP Spaceape.

If you're a fan of Dubstep/140, I highly recommend checking out Mala's Boiler Room set..

This dude is a true Don.. Had the pleasure of seeing his longest US set in the middle of the mountains, under a billion stars. He played for 5+ hours.. One of the best nights, I've ever had.

@The Moog - Autecre, Fridge, Four Tet; yes, yes, yes! Takes me back.

I used to spend a lot of time with albums and EPs from Steffan Betke, better know as Pole. First heard him perform his dub glitchery in a gutted, red brick 1900's grocery store; it was magic. Here's one taste, from '98:

    Pole - Kirschenessen

Another artist that I first heard in a live setting - at the first Table of the Elements Festival in Chicago - is Berhard Günter. This one, a little more lively than much of his output, is from '99:

Bernhard Günter - The Ant Moves The Black And Yellow Carcass A Little Closer

Tracks from L.I.E.S honcho Ron Morelli's retardo 2013 album, Spit, have been making me quite happy of late:

Ron Morelli - Director Of... & No Real Reason

    @toothaction
Haha, yeah . . . take me back. I dont really dig a lot of recent stuff, but i'm willing to learn. I just find its a lot of recycling of stuff that has gone before. I never stopped listening to my favourite rave / techno / house / electronica . . . it has stood the test of time, where other music has not.

I remember mention of 'Pole' but i never heard much of his output. I like that track you posted. I will have to investigate!

@noeleaser thanks man I'll give it a view. He's released quite abit of stuff too right?

@toothaction @The Moog you guys listen to quite a bit of quality stuff! I agree with Moog while there's so much music coming out these days it's still the same old nostalgic stuff that you go back to half of the time. Probably a piece of a specific part of your youth or best times of your life.
This track led me to Steingarten and CD 1

He's got this new release which I did contemplate getting at a record store but ended up not though

    He has.

Mala's got multiple full length LPs and tons of singles out. Most consider him one of the pioneers of the genre..

25 years ago, I found out about this song and this group. It changed my life forever..

I was in high school at the time. I had been listening to a lot of Hip Hop, Reggae, Punk Rock and Hardcore before this. As a matter of fact, I had just recently made the decision to stop being Straight Edge and started experimenting with things that Straight Edge people don't experiment with..

I was sitting at a friend's house after school, in Westport. CT and we were listening to tunes by Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, UVS (If you know about them, you get massive props right now..) My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr, you get the picture.. My friend turns to me and says "you've never heard anything like this before..." and puts on 'Little Fluffy Clouds' by The Orb. My mind was completely blown. He was right, I had never heard anything like it and I was hooked. The funny thing is, I probably wouldn't have fallen in love with the song if it wasn't for the recognizable vocal samples. I immediately knew it was Ricky Lee Jones (my parents were huge fans!) I started going to raves very shortly after (who remembers raves in NYC back in the early 90s?!) I got to see them on their 25th anniversary tour a little while back, still amazing..

A few years went buy and one day I was at a local Sam Goodys. I was checking out the cassette wall and saw this strange name I'd never seen before. LTJ Bukem. It was a DJ mix put out by Mixmag out of the UK and I was extremely intrigued. I bought that cassette, popped it into my walkman and that's how I discovered Drum & Bass. As soon as the first tune dropped, I knew I had stumbled onto something amazing. At about the 3:40 mark of the first tune, he started mixing in the second tune and I was completely enamored. His mixing was flawless and I was completely speechless. To this day, it's one of my favorite DJ mixes, even though it was released 20 years back. Check it:

    https://www.mixcloud.com/LTJBukem/ltj-bukem-mixmag-live-volume-21-x-studio-mix-1996/

From 1998 to 2001, I had the pleasure of being the staff photographer for the #1 club night in the country, BUZZ, in Washington DC. I got to photograph and hang with almost every big D&B act at the time. I got to kick it with cats like John B, Bad Company, Shy FX, Ed Rush & Optical, Andy C, Fierce, Trace, Dylan, Bukem, Blame, Loxy, Bailey, etc.. I also had the pleasure of meeting and becoming firends with @Mecha who was usually MCing for all of these cats when they came to town. (We've almost known each other for 20 years dude!!) True/sad story: I had the honor of meeting Kemistry & Storm the weekend before Kemistry died in a car crash.. RIP.. :(

I feel that I was extremely fortunate to be part of that monumental scene when it was gaining steam here in the US. It's so crazy that D&B has been a thing now for 20+ years.
