Very new. I take it, that is Andy from TAG, then.

I don't know if TAG are still a physical shop or if he works there. Was many years ago had the pleasure to encounter him at the counter there!

ps: New relative to posting. Registered several years ago, no time for reading or posting til recently.

Whooops! Sorry, Andy. Thanx for the correction, xSuicide Squadx. Yes, Connell! The tats and spirit are unforgettable, and his name ought to have been, too.

I had to tear down my display case and put all the toys away 7 or 8 months ago to set up a nursery. I now have a single shelf on display with maybe 10 toys.

I'm still selling some stuff trying to get things managable, and I've also started moving some pricier items. Honestly I have 100s of toys i like more and could get 50-100 for, compared to the toy I can get nearly a grand or more for, so I'm just selling some - just to feel like I've won a little bit and haven't lost so much money to this.

One thing I noticed from some collectors in Asia is they don't have things on display but use a bin system, maybe this is due to the lack of space in tight urban living. But now that I have everything boxed up, honestly I don't really care about having it on display, but I still like knowing it's there and I can pull it out. I think when we eventually move into a larger house, maybe I will get a single detolf, I don't really care about the large display again and I'm going to move everything into a well organized/labeled clear shallow bin stystem, so if I want to look at fight figures, I'll just pull the bins out. If I want to look at Zollmen I'll pull it out.

Im at this stage myself. With the addition of a new family member and living in small apartment, I began keeping things in bins only to realize thats not the way I wanted to collect. It was a nice moment of clarity. The crucial part to it is just to unfollow so many collectors on IG so that I dont feel I am missing out on so many new cool releases. The other crucial part is to follow all the new hot artists since it really shows me how much things are still the same.

Now to get more cabinet locks so the lil one doesnt trample over all of those bins.

Real quick life pro tip for anyone having a kid: in most states in the USA you can surrender a newborn within 7 days to a hospital, police or fire station no questions asked. Then you don’t have to change your collecting habits. ;)

Of course, I’m joking. If you have a child and don’t have room for the toy collection you can send the toys my way and I’ll give them a good home. :D

Having the same sort of thoughts. Fiancé is starting to talk about having kids.

On the flip side, if I can manage to help produce a weirdo like myself that means I have another (more legitimate) excuse to keep buying toys?

I thought I might have quit but I'm in a healthier phase of my collecting. I'll pick up a Gargamel Lucky Bag and sometimes a one off and hope I can score new Butanohana (that I'm into) about once a year. I'll most likely pull out and rotate my display in 2022 once I've moved into this tiny house as I don't have space to display everything at once.

I wonder if I can get an 11 year extension on this since I wasn't aware this was an option.

So. I am not considering quitting, but I do need to figure out a path forward. The situation I find myself in, which I bet is fairly common, is that I am all out of physical space as well as my wife's approval for taking over more space in our bedroom, living room, bathroom, dining room, office....
My main display is so crowded that it doesn't even look very good anymore. I don't want or need to sell any toys and I'd like to keep collecting albeit maybe a little more discerning. My thought is having a rotating display/storage but I'm curious what other have done in similar situations?

Strip-mining. Pick a manufacturer, show, or character you can live without, and start with selling those.

I really don't want or need to sell. I also don't want to hoard toys in storage that others might enjoy displaying.

Ive always liked the idea of rotating displays, but it also feels silly to keep stuff stored away like holiday decorations that only come out once a year. Personally I'm to the point where i think I'm only going to allow myself X amount of shelf space. Once they're full, i need to let go of some stuff to make room for new or more desired toys.

Don’t try check, because they all quit collecting and wouldn’t be able to corroborate but I’ve have people trying to downsize just give me their extra toys they don’t have space to display. I’m not lying. Scouts honor, don’t try to verify my claim… just send the toys. ;)

I have it on good authority that Lord Bemon sold all of his sofubi to "invest" in Bored Apes.

My storage space is a good size, so I'm going to fill it with display cases and get rid of the boxes!
Just thought of that the other day while visiting my binned buddies... then I'll probably be inspired to visit more often 8)
