Hey SB Fam After about a week into March, I disappeared from the world on another medical hope excursion. This time in Flipadelphia... My time was quite limited while there and I was tardy finding info pre-trip (damn exhausting preliminary trials), but with there being a good chance that I'll visit Hahnemann again soon, I'd Really like to be better prepared this time, in a few facets... 1st thing 1st, I can't find any solid info on a Good place to purchase vinyl / kaiju works. This is hard for me to imagine with Philadelphia too. If there's one place you can find brick & mortar vinyl toy stores in the US, large cities tend to be the best sources. Course there's always exceptions to the rule, but always with more the people = the more the varied interests. But who would know better than the SB congregation anyway?! SO, do any of ya'll know a good place in Philly to buy kaiju toys & the likewise? Especially if the same terms result as my recent visit, it would Sure make my trip! * Well,.. even though I can't promise that I'll respond to questions on the matter (comment or pm; I'm sorry, but ptsd's been pretty active since returning & I'm just not back to my normal just yet), For anyone curious about the real purpose for my recent tour in Philly, there's more info below, albeit most isn't first-hand. Umm, you'll see what I mean... Unless you had that right combo of screaming homeless cripple under the bridge in your town, we never knew that heath issues of this nature existed while growing up. And who of us thought that could be our future?.. If nothing else, I do encourage watching at least the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd videos for your own knowledge bank... Maybe it's due to these experimental treatments being added to the list of over a hundred (yep) other failed medical procedures of mine, which includes the extent of what modern, etc. medicine has had to offer me over the last 11 years, orrr perhaps because I'm just sick of the tears & talking about it and just want to find my place again yet still feel the need to share (however vague, I apologize) with my online friendlies (the bulk email is next), so I found a few links that I think put things into perspective enough for those who care and/or are interested in the premise. ARTICLE : I recommend reading this entire write-up. It's a fairly easy read w' more "plain English" & little actual medical jargon (don't bother watching the videos, since I'm providing some better ones below), and although this' a few years old, it gives the reader a Lot of insight into the Ketamine treatments and RSD / CRPS (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy / Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), which are some of my biggest health issues & why I chanced it. - - http://www.rsdfoundation.org/en/BrettKetamineResearchVideo.html. VIDEO 1 : A short News Brief that says it all. - - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW_vstm0bS8. VIDEO 2 : At least watch the first few minutes; until you say, "Son of a biscuit eater! Is that the same girl?" (features girl from News Brief ^^). - - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nm-Df422mwo. VIDEO 3 : More-so sad, but kinda cute video project this girl made for her class about her illness, & it's apparently inspired Many others to do the same... What gets to me, is that it's just gonna get so much worse for her too. I hope she can find the joy in living the life she can. Like,.. I can't even explain how much happiness I get from toys and collecting. "Little" things can be just as beautiful as the untouchable ones. A chronic pain psychiatrist Completely changed my outlook on this new life, and surprisingly I've been more @ peace over the past few years than ever previously. Of course the many meds don't hurt. Ha, yeeaaah, pretty sure that sums up my many giddy posts. But Anyway, WATCH THIS! - - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCltCtkyj_c. VIDEO 4 : And for those truly studious types who'll know more than me on the subject if they can finish this video Awake. - - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42Sd3AtUgGU. Well, that's that. Thanks So Much For the Philly Info, Guys! I got a gift basket from a horse.
There's a lot of "whoa wtf" info in this post, but I just wanted to say as a resident of philly for over 11 years, there is no kaiju in Philly. We go to New York or buy it online. Sorry!
Oomph, sorry to hear about your troubles boo... I have some idea of the trials and tribulations you must be going through. Be strong! That being said, missy is right. There's nothing in Philadelphia for Kaiju unfortunately... unless you count our personal collections. I wish there was a place, but no.
Your personal collections, huh? I'd found a thread about this absence in Philly before, but was hoping due to it's age, that things had changed. Coming from an even unlikelier place in South GA, and having the opportunity to be back in a true city again (& a large one @ that), I was anticipating at least 1 worthy location being here... But alright,.. you two would know. Thank You for Replying. And Thanks for the warm words, Hellopike.
We're kind of a vacuum for anything good or fun. I just realized a while back that in center city... I can't find a goddamned video store. I used to be the GM of TLA and we had tons of competition. Now I can't even find a blockbuster. So a Kaiju shop is not likely to happen. Like Phil said though, there's always our collections...
