I'll be honest, I have felt that way in the past but the one thing that always snaps me out of it is how it would affect my family and friends. If that ever stops happening, I will most definitely seek help.

With Chris Cornell's passing, it just goes to show you that appearances are not everything. It seemed like he had an amazing life, and awesome family, a super successful career but there was obviously something inside of him that was not content..

Artists, in particular musicians, are known for wholeheartedly pouring their emotions into absolutely everything they do. This is what makes the individualized expression of their art so inviting, appealing, and comforting. The flipside is that while their music can serve as a healing cathartic release, it can also be a double-edged sword masking the deep pain dwelling inside a musician's mind. Many musical artists, especially those that tour huge stadium venues, have expressed the intense discomfort they frequently feel mentally, physically, and emotionally after they finish their set. Take a second and think about what it must be like for a human being to go from tens of thousands of screaming fans only to return back to a hotel room, possibly sleep, get back in the van, and wake up to do it all over again. It's those extreme highs and lows that psychologically take a cumulative toll on creative minds night after night. The touring lifestyle is a blessing and a curse for many replete with all of the negative trappings that breed the sad stories we've heard far too many times before. Life on the road has a tendency to wear people down, even if your traveling is luxurious. It can truly be an amazing series of eye-opening "once in a lifetime" experiences as long as you keep everything in perspective. Any way you slice it, whether you're famous or not, it's important to keep grounded by surrounding yourself with true friends and family that care, have your back, and want the absolute best for you!

I go through moments of total misery and self loathing, but I tell myself that if I go, I will not be the one doing it. I think about how that would affect everyone around that actually cares. My family, my friends, especially my dogs. Who will care for them when I am gone? Who will love them like I love them? It's that reason and that reason alone that keeps me going even when I don't want to. Giving up on yourself is easy, but looking at the bigger picture, it's not worth it.

I only heard about it today because I cut myself off from news venues for my own sanity... but damn, that hurts. I used to love Soundgarden as a kid, and though I wasn't as big a fan of Audioslave, I had a few songs on my phone.
Just a real shame that anyone would feel like taking their life is the solution to their problems. I've felt that way many times in the past but it's always been the knowledge that I will completely destroy the lives of my family that's kept me grounded and helped me bounce back. Dead or alive, it would still be my fault for causing pain.
I think that's a testament to how much pain he must have been in though, to know how much your family will hurt but feeling like it's still your only choice... I just wish there was less stigma surrounding mental illness and talking about these things. Maybe then he would have asked for help, who knows. It's too late now, but I think we can all do the world a favor and make sure we look for signs in our loved ones, and make sure we're there for them if they need us.

Fuck anything that has some oil base in it food wise! 2 days and ruining of 3 clothing items!

I was watching Alien Covenant and my sis handed me some of that awful movie popcorn I would never eat (I hate popcorn in general because it always gets stuck in your teeth) but they slop that crappy oil all over it and while I was holding it for her it drips onto my pants.

Next day- I'm at a fucking strawberry festival starving and after waiting in line for whatever chow they had (in this case a fucking cheesesteak because I had not eaten in like 12 hours) I find no place to sit around the area so I grab a park bench. Sure enough the guy who made it didn't wrap it well and steak grease (lipids) all over my shorts! Later on that evening I made myself a really nice salad with some zeisty italian vinagrette, sure enough the giant spinach and chard greens act like propellers in my salad and spray oil based dressing onto the shorts I changed to as I pick them up with the fork! WTF!!!!

Now my sis says I'm acting like a psycho because these oil stains in all cases are no bigger than dimes, and mostly pencil eraser in size. BUT I am a freak with any kind of stain on clothing. Nothing ruins my day more and I can't rest till they are gone. I've used baking soda and cornstarch to try an absorb the oil, then used dishwashing soap to scrub it out. Nothing is working damn it! Anyone know how to get rid of oil/grease stains. And don't say apply more oil...I read that online and wanted to punch the person who suggested it (he really said it works- how? it won't)

Rub whatever laundry soap you use into the stains and let it sit in a while before you throw it in the wash. Also, if they persist after you've washed & dried the item, throw it on an ironing board, put talcum powder on the stains, then cover the area with a cloth (handkerchief) and iron with no steam. The powder will absorb the oil. Tricks from 25+ years of dealing with stained stage clothes/outfits ;)

As a kid my mom would make a sludgy mixture with oxy clean and detergent and apply it to the stains. Let it sit until its dry and then machine wash as normal. Always works for me, thanks mom

I'm down for a Fuck you.
Fuck you to my dentist for texting the entire time leading up to my tooth pulling. After he was 1.5 hours late to my appointment he was on his phone right up until he put the needle in my gums and yanked out my tooth and went right back to his phone. Even after I passed out from my anxiety and slammed my head into his doorway he took my blood pressure and got back on his phone. Fuck that guy.

Duuuuude. That is just so wrong. Get a new dentist, and leave a nice review on Google. (and by nice I mean scathing.)

I have no qualms with leaving bad reviews when people or places deserve them. It rarely happens, but when it does... ohhhhh boy. Just like the hotel pube mosaic fiasco.

Got a room at a hotel in Denver, pulled back the covers, found 9 pubes and mystery stains, took photos and made a pretty photo mosaic, showed the receptionist who immediately cringed and called the manager. Got refunded and they gave me a bag of Chex mix. Got another room at a different hotel for the same price, pristine and twice as big. Left a bad review but made sure to mention that the manager and receptionist were not to blame one bit. Whoever was in charge of cleaning rooms is either a liar or lazy.

Those Asians (Taiwan, Honk Kong, China) are the worst on IG...
They're totally obsessed with this hobby, especially with brands like Punk Drunkers and MVH.
They also love to repost shit from artists, to make it even easier for flippers to not miss anything...

They really need to chill with the constant hyping :|

Fuck you, distance. A gal and I really, really like each other but there is no way either of us could move to where the other is as our lives are too involved where we each are. 2000 miles is nothing to fucking sneeze at. This really fucking blows.

In this day and age, this happens quite often! But only you'll know if it is really worth it to you. It'll take a lot of time and deliberation, but in the end it always works out for the best. Maybe not the scenario you'd like, but it's always for the best :) Good luck being in love. I hear it's quite nice!

I think you need to chill in general and let the beast work itself out. Its ok to be obsessed with a hobby. They will eventually calm down and realize what they are doing is fueling some of the wrong ppls ambitions for the toys as mentioned in a previous thread.

I am chill. I don't think now that there are international flipper rings involved, "thing will work itself out". I hope it will, but i can't see them suddenly disappearing if they can flip these toys for huge profits.

I'm not saying they can't be obsessed, only that they should try to keep it a little more to themselfs.

I implore you to tread lightly here. There's no need to let this latest round of flipper controversy devolve into anything more.
Both HYPE & its byproduct (opportunistic behavior) know no distinctions of race, creed, color or nationality.

You don't think Japanese collectors felt the same way when sofubi grew in popularity stateside and brokers/agents/Manda etc. began to take notice?
This small world continues to grow and for better or worse IG has fueled that fire. The artists adapt and evolve their release methods to accommodate the changing times. So it has been and will continue to be.
I will agree that this thing won't "work itself out". In a niche hobby where demand far outweighs supply, there will always be those looking to exploit it for personal gain. Such is the nature of the beast... if it bums you out that much, maybe try going the KR/Funko route instead.

    "Those Asians" lol damn.

Reading through Michaels IG thread it seems the best opposition proposed thus far is direct confrontation/intimidation.

Sounds like a terrible idea to me.

If you guys want to be further enraged check out this episode of the Marsham Toy Hour podcast featuring self proclaimed "flipper" Kevin Cao. (Edit) his justifications sound pretty dumb to me.

Ooh, interesting. Thanks for putting up that episode, @topher. Listening now; haven't gotten to the fliptastic part yet tho...

Oh wait, here it is... Haha, okay, so y'all should really listen to it yourselves (it's bizarre to hear him talk as if he's a philanthropist), but to sum up his reasoning in his own words, he feels that flipping for profit helps the scene by making the toys more valuable. The man must come from bizarro world  ....

A bit surprised to hear that as open as he is about his actions, no maker has refused to sell to him (by his claim anyway).

Amazing. You can actually feel tiny parts of your brain dying while listening. Best part is about flippers getting disabled passes so they can get all the Funko before everyone else. Clearly no base motivation there whatsoever...

@bunnyboy, that part about the disabled passes really pissed me off. Speaking as someone who's disabled to the point of not being able to travel thus unable to attend these events, I can just imagine what some disabled people have to go thru to get there, and then legitimately suffer thru for the love of why they're there, to then have to wait or miss out because of this scum.
