Can someone possibly ID this Gomora toy? It does not look like a vintage one, but I thought only B-Club reissued this, and the reissue has Bandai on the feet, not Marusan. Thanks.

Bandai is just the name of parent company, and was responsible for the reproductions from the late 80s and early 90s, before they were rebranded as Popy, and subsequently B-Club. If it says Bandai, then it is most definitely the late ones. Could be from the '89 or '91 series.

Right, but I don't think the toys were ever reissued with the Marusan stamp on the foot. That is my point. I don't recall ever seeing a recent Gomora reissue with that marking, so I am questioning whether this in fact might be early vintage - a rare variant.

Wait - are you saying that is a Bandai stamp above the Marusan stamp?

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying. Firstly though, I will say a lot of the figures were made with both the Marusan and Bullmark stamps, so I wouldn't be considering any extreme rare variants or some such thing. As for this specific example, I don't know, it doesn't look quite right for me to be a vintage figure. It is hard to tell for certain from the washed out photo, but it doesn't seem to match the Marusan version. The colours are off, the paint is different, and the vinyl looks like the more 'rubberised' newer quality. Marusan did make an all-red version of Gomora, but he didn't have the blue highlights like that.

Anyways, just my thoughts, but I wouldn't go all out for any "vintage" figure you are not sure about. Checking these things out in person is the way to go, that way you know you won't get burned. Things that are rare or too good to be true, usually are.

Examples, compare these shots of the vintage 'red' Marusan Gomora (left) with the later '89 re-issue (right):

To me at least, this seems to be the latter.
